Emma's Smiley Travels
Hi all,
A quick note from the Galapolus Islands. I was really excited about going here as i had heard such great things, which sometimes can be a bit of a let down when you actually go, as they have been hyped up so much.....
But the Galopolus are not like that... it was fantasitc, whilst alot of the tour books say you have to do a 7 day tour, i'm not sure i'd agree (i did 3 days) or at least you need to have lots of money & not be on my boat.
Oh yes the boat i lived on for 3 days, what can i say... it was a nice boat while you sat updeck and the food was fantastic (particularly comig from travelling in Bolivia & Peru where some of the food was definately circumspect!!) but to say you could swing a cat in the cabins would be generous... i couldn't sit up on the top bunk!!
Luckly we only slept in there anyway...
The amazing thing i found about the Galapolus islands as we vistied different islands, was how timid the animals were and how close you were to them. So much so that you really had to be careful as the Marine Ignanas blend really well into the rocks, and you nearly stand on them!!
I have to confess i did go a bit trigger happy with the camera in the 3 days i was there, the Red Frigget birds were great when they puffed out there red chests, and i don't think i would ever tire of seeing baby seals playing....
So check out the photos as they are some of my favourites, and i have had a great time on this trip, but 3 nights on that boat was enough for me.
Though i did provide some entertainment (those of you who know my balance problems can imagine) for the rest of the guys on the boat through a particularly stormy sea, as i went to get my veg on the self service dinner, i staggered from side to side (i was try to walk striaght honest!! and i would like to point out i hadn't been drinking..) so much so that the chef put me out of my misery and did it for me and took it to the table!!
From the Galopolous Islands it was back to Quitto briefly ( and the 6th or 7th airport in a week for me!!) before flying out to Venezuela..
That's all for now,
Take Care
Em:)
