6 pm Sunday evening, made it to Sydney, weather is a lot nicer here, warm but not humid, just like a really hot summer day at home. I can tell its a different sort of heat as i'm a bit sunburnt already!
Checked in my bags yesterday morning at the MTR station, it was like a mini airport, very efficient. Got a tram to the Causeway Bay area of Hong Kong, same as everywhere else really, lots of shops, you have never seen anything like it, each shopping centre is about the size of Camborne and then it is joined to another one the same size. All the shops are linked together by an undercover walkway so you don't even have to go outside.
Got on the Airport train about 3pm, flight left at 8, half hour late, before taking off the pilot suggested we keep our seatbelts on all the way because of some pacific stream above indonesia which we were going through, it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be, tried to sleep but managed about 3 hours in total, plus lost 3 hours with the time difference, so needless to say i'm knackered now. On the menu last night was Vegie Lasagne, Chicken and Mash Potato or Beef Stir Fry, which mum, you will be surpried i went for! and it was actually really nice, like Beef Pie but with rice not pastry. Breakfast was a Bacon Roll.
They are really strict letting people in here, when we landed they sprayed the cabin with insecticide before they let us out, and the hold had to be inspected before they allowed us to get off, when boarding at Hong Kong all our hand luggage was searched and any drinks we had thrown away. On the landing card there was a question about have you been in contact with a farm, so i thought i'd be searched or something, but they just waved me through as normal.
Somehow managed to get a free bus into town, not sure how, but every little helps! The hostel is really nice, its a YHA one, holds over 500 people, but it doesn't seem that busy. My room is nice, sharing with 2 german girls and the other 3 haven't met yet, its quiet which is good. Feel like have done Sydney already, theres loads here to do and see so it's going to be a busy few days i think. Took a harbour cruise this afternoon and spent some doing at Darling Harbour, which is where i got the sunburnt shoulders i think.
Thats all for now, bit of a long one, thought you'd like lots of detail, like i'm talking to you, as i'm sure to forget lots by the time i come home!
Till next time, reporter Emma signing off!
