Dolphins dolphins dolphins!!!!!Monkey Mia is the place where the dolphins come up to the beach and swim around your legs - and they get fed 3 times a day to lure them right up to the beach! We got there dead early so caught the first feed of the day and lordy are those b*****s cute!! They come right up! So close! We were very excited! We spent the day just hanging around on the beautiful Indian Ocean beach and the dolphins would swin around near the shore throughout the day, playing and jumping and then come and hang out for dinner! Margaret and Brian were there and we could hear her but couldnt see her - it made it very difficult to avoid her! She asked us our names so that (and I quote) she "didnt have to shout OI when she wanted our attention!" At one point we were on the beach and she was about 30 feet away on the boardwalk when she decided to shout out to us and tell us that she was going to go kayaking (and said we should too!) but Brian wasnt cause he wasnt very well - she was not impressed! We got back and just sat watching tele (we managed to get ourselves a reputation as teleaddicts in 1 day!). The next day we got up to go to Monkey Mia and we had acquired a little swiss man called Andy - he is the funniest person we have ever met! Sorry everyone else but its true! Even funnier than u leelee locking yourself in the toilet! Someone else tried to teach us cards and Andy really wasnt getting the hang of it and was getting quite emotional about the whole thing! Boys being boys the day decending into a Swiss/Welsh special olympics which was the funniest stupid thing we have seen! We were playing frisbee in the water and Andy decided to shout out (when a small boy in a floaty ring was bobbing about next to us) (imagine the Swiss/German accent) "this is not fair - he is handicapped he is handicapped!" Meaning that he himself had a Frisbee handicap because the boy was behind him and he could dive like a prat enough but the little boys parents werent too happy about it!!! Monkey Mia is also home to scary pelicans which are HUGE and kept running at us! Very scary business! When we were in the sea, 4 dolphins popped up about 6 feet away from where i was...well doggy paddling is really the only word for it, clearly i was so graceful they thought I was one of their own. Anywho, Emma didnt tell me why she was exclaiming so Andy shrieked and some sea weed touched my leg and i nearly drowned in fear of what was near me! But it was all lovely once I bobbed around and saw what they were! The boys olympic competition lasted a loooooooooooooong time and involved Andy making us all sit on the beach and play with our noses (we dont understand either!) and then the two boys crawling around under the picnic bench cause apparantly thats manly! They wouldnt fight though as per my suggestion or dig a hole as per Emmas - rubbish! Anywho, the special olympics ended with us being dragged down to the pier to go squid fishing for hours!! Unfortunately Andy could only catch sea grass and Rich ( the most competitive fool ever) caught about 4 big ol' squid which didnt go down well. They even swapped reels at one point but Andy screamed at the heavens when he still didnt catch any thing and Rich caught more seagrass than he ever did! The day ended with Emma having a red nose, me looking like a lobster wearing a lone ranger mask becasue apparently wearing factor 40 sun cream and a hat isnt enough to stop you getting burnt and being left with the biggest sunglasses marks ever!! The squid was rank by the way and burnt our tongue cause of the amount of blooming pepper they stuck on it! Had to get up dead early to come back to rocking Geraldton too, so all the excitement sent us to bed early - and yes, Emma did help me write this I'm not the only Swiss fan here!! Off to Perth tomorrow then Alice Springs on Sunday - Oooh and the bus driver decided to nick a guitar and serenade us on the way down today and I had to go to the loo in a water tank - but it wasnt like you think, It had a proper loo like and I think every home should have one, but then Im weird.
