Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
Happy New Year from us 3!
I cant believe we have been in Hawaii for 2 weeks already - there isnt massive amounts to fill you in on, we are convinced that we may have hibernated for a week somewhere along the way cause seriously, 14 days?! Surely not!
Anywho...we arrived in Hawaii about 5 hours before we left New Zealand, a pretty neat trick as we had to fly to Sydney first and hang around there for 5 hours. Ok so we arent so special, our superpowers havent quite kicked in...yet - its all to do with the international date line thing which we crossed which is kind of cool!
Anywho, the flight was much better than we thought it would be, but we still fell asleep as soon as we got in our room!
We had some time to kill before we could check in though (sweet sweet island time check outs of 12 oclock! Heaven!) and so moseyed on down beachwards (*cough Starbucks-wards*) and my goodness this place is hot!!! I think all the surfers running around has increased the overall temperature by silly degrees, swooning heat I tell thee!
ANywho, enough of that, our first night was spent dozing and reading, much to the delight, amusement and confusion of one of our foreign roomates! Apparently he had never seen girls read, only gossip so he was quite bemused! Although he wasnt convinced by my reading and watching tv talents (sound familiar family?!) and told everyone I was just holding my book to look cool - He obviously wasnt convinced by my coolness without my book - ruhude!
The next day we got moved to a different room which is our current home in Hawaii. We have a girls room (ours) with tv, and a boys room, with giant mirror and air conditioning (oh yes, ours are manly men!)
What have we done besides sleep?! Well...ooh, we have discovered our favourite ever supermarket, Don Quiote! Its Japanese and aside from the octopus limbs that are lurking everywhere I turn, it is the best place! Ok, that makes us sound really dull....urm....
Well we have sunbathed some, but normally wilt and need a nap after a few hours because it is so blumming hot!
We sat on the world famous (apparently) Waikiki beach, at sunset, watching fil-ms, including The Grinch that Stole Christmas...at christmas...on the beach...in Hawaii - get it?!
OOh, we went (with one of our roommates Josh) to Honolulu Zoo! (Its literally across the road - so dont worry about us getting too active!). That was a lot of fun - the others got to see my natural ability to have every animal turn their bums on me when I try and take a photo! All have agreed it is a gift - they had me "running" to enclosures when the animals were head on, only to have them turn around sharpishlike and bare their backsides! Jo was quite amused by this talent!
Em and I went shopping with Josh and tracked down not only pretty shoes, but also....Hawaiian christmas stockings!! Just in time for Santa! Whey! We hung them up and spent the next day hunting for presents for eachother. Mr Josh gave us our first presents though and he would have laden us down with bacon aswell if his paycheck had made an appearance! What a guy!! Heehee....anyway!
We filled our trolley with christmassy food in Don Quiote and...minus some tasty traditional foods, we were ready for christmas day...so this is how it went down....
We woke up - not tooooooo early, but good enough, and Santa had been! Ok so we had seen eachother stuff our presents in our stockings yesterday afternoon but shh - leave me alone! Then we all sat around in our pjs opening our pressies (lots of cuddly toys and bracelets and lei's) then we got dressed, made some phonecalls (to you lot remember!) then headed down to the beach...on christmas day! 30 degress!
After that it was a stop off to get some "Champagne" and orange juice (sorry Dad, I had a craving after you said you hadnt had any this year!) and had bucks fizz in the room out of giant plastic beakers while attempting to cook our christmas dinner!
Ok so it wasnt completely traditional, and the turkey roll didnt taste much like turkey but it was gooooooooooood!! 5 months without! SO tasty! VEGETABLES!!! WHEY!!
That was about it I think! New Year details next!
PS - dont think this gets you out of the faux christmas families! We are looking forward to them more than ever! Please?! Love you xxx
