Well, Harriet has given me the wonderful privelage of writing obout the day that we dedicated to Neighbours. I'll try not to babble on too much. I've written 5 pages about it in my travel journal and still haven't finished my account of events...
It was quite a dull day when we got up at 10, but that didn't dampen our way over-excited spirits. The neihbours bus didn't pick us up until 1 and we spent all the time leading up to that washing, and putting on nice clothes and make up as this time we knew we would meet some stars. When we got on the bus it was playing music videos of members of the cast over the years (Kylie, Holly Valance, Natalie Imbruglia etc). When everyone was on the bus the guide filled us in on what had been going on (what a great job!) and then put on some classical episodes (harold and Madge's wedding, Helen Daniels' death). Our first stop was Erinsborough High which is an English school for immigrants in real life, so we had to be careful not to take photos of children. Then we went to Ramsay Street which was pretty immense. We reminisced about who had lived in each house. Unfortunately they weren't filming but it meant that we could go and stand right outside the houses (as you shall see on the many photos!). We weren't allowed to go in the studio where the Lasseters complex is but we passed it and Harold just happened to be leaving the car park in his Volvo estate. He waved and the bus of english girls just erupted into squeals! We drove back to St Kildas and stopped outside the hotel where Paul dumped Lynne, and Dylan got on our bus!!!!!! He has had a hair cut and looks rather fine. We asked questions and took autographs and photos. He's very like Dylan in real life. Really nice. He has a girlfriend and kindly refused harri's offer to be his stalker.
We had to straighten our hair and stuff to look really nice for the pub so were actually a little late but it was ok, the stars hadn't emerged yet! It was really packed. Everyone was from the UK! Libby Kennedy sang first. She has got very foxy, and was quite a good singer. We had a Neighbours theme tune sing song with the whole pub, which was beautiful, and then the stars all came out. First came Darcy (Susan's evil nephew), then Michelle Scully, Janelle, Connor and Dr Karl. Michelle and Connor are going out in real life! They all went round to each table to have their photos taken with us and have a little chat. Janelle was lovely and hugged me when i told her is was the best day of my life. Harri seemed to be star struck or something and ended up babbling on to Darcy about the teenage pregnancy rate in Wakefield(????) Michelle was quite shy but nice and helped us with the pub quiz, and Connor was just like your typical Irish lad. He's never coming back to Neighbours by the way. Dr Karl is so sleasy. He gave all the girls a kiss on the cheek as he introduced himself. Wore quite a dodgy pink t-shirt. Karl's band (Waiting Room) played at the end of the night and Darcy was filming it as he's now a 'director'. They're going to release the video so we danced like crazy in the hope that we'll be in it. Harri made an Irish friend on the dancefloor called Fergal McGuinness (we checked the passport) which we thought was the icing on the cake of a brilliant day! We were in that pub for 7 hours and got asked to leave at 2am. It was such a good day.
