We left Buenos Aires 2 days after joining the group, and took a ferry to Colonia de Sacremento in Uruguay and spent almost 2 days monging around here. The following day, we caught a bus to Montevideo, the Capital of Uruguay.
We were expecting to be staying in dorms and shacks, but it is probably the most comfortable leg of the journey yet!! Hot showers and clean bedding. There isn´t too much trekking going on.
The architecture in Uruguay was spectacular, and we took a tour of the city to find out some of the history. We spent some of the time in the Plaza´s and in the evening took a taxi (apparently not terribly safe at night for tourists) to the only Mexican restaurant in town, to celebrate Graeme´s birthday.
The following day, we took a 7 hour bus journey to Salto, a town in the back end of beyond. And stayed here overnight in preparation for our first overnight bus trip to Iguassu Falls.
We have just croosed over the Argentine border and are now in Brazil. The next update will probably be from Rio!
