So.... Here is my first blog of my adventures in Canada.
After a bit of a false start to my travels, I have finally begun my adventure in Canada, in Kelowna to be precise.
The journey from Vancouver to Kelowna was long ( 6 hours!) but I had New Moon to keep me entertained as well as some beautiful snowy mountain scenery ( bus was moving too fast to take decent photos unfortunately)
I am now in a funky little hostel in Kelowna covered in fairy lights! Unfortunately I arrived to find my room mate fast alseep at 7pm and the living room being occupied by people watching Ice Hockey (shocker!) Everyone seems friendly enough though, I even got offered dinner (pasta... again!) :-)
Tomorrow I am going to see the sights of Kelowna. There is very little to see here, especially as it is the end of their busy summer season and things are starting to close down. However, I am hoping to get a feel for the place as it is where my Grandad grew up.
The plan after Kelowna is to head to another ski resort and hope that there is more chance of getting a job and place to live. So far the chat has not been promising though. It would appear that by wasting 2 weeks in Whistler, I have left it a bit late to find work in other resorts. On top of that it seems to be a busy year for people coming to Canada for work because one, the job market was doing better over here than in Europe and two, the Olympics are in Vancouver and Whistler in February. I can only try I guess and if I find nothing, then at least I would have visited and skied a few resorts in Canada!
So first stop is either Big White or SilverStar. I've been told Big White has better snow but that Silverstar is a nice smaller village... Hmmm... decisions decisions.
Hope you are all well,
Elodie Xx
P.S. Stupi - I told you my writing skills were poor! :-P
