So last night I was supposed to go on a pub crawl around Paris. Kind of fell asleep and didn't make it. Doesn't mean I didn't have a good evening though. Found this Irish pub with another guy from the room, Chris from sandringham. 3 euro pints means it's hard to just have one. And when it's hard to say no to more you tend to lose track. Then you fall asleep for a quick nap after being awake for almost 16 hours and wake up after the crawl is supposed to start.
Today was a little more successful. After consulting my travel app I found this really nice park. But nice doesn't cover it. The parc des buttes is like the botanical gardens on steroids. A little garden of paradise in the middle of Paris. I don't know of any gardens in Melbourne that have a 100 metre climb to the top of this hill in the middle with a Small tower on top. Or one with a waterfall inside a huge alcove covered in stalactites.
Figured it was probably time for lunch. So I had a look in my book for somewhere cheap to eat. And it recommended this hot dog joint called La Mosaique. Jumped on the train and found the nearest stop. It took my 20 minutes walking to find it even thought it was only 2 minutes from the station. My god was it worth it thought. For 2.50 euros each the best hot dogs I've ever had.
Now I know I'm writing about what I did for lunch but I'm in freaking Paris. I could write about the train trip I had and it'd still be interesting just because of the the fact I'm overseas.
Going for a wander seems to be what I've done the most around here. Because after a while I found myself right near Notre Dame. And I must act the tourist. So I bought a crepe then stood in line for 10 mins. And then spent about 5 mins inside. The place is pretty amazing to look at but I didn't find it anything special. See a church and see them all. However the outside is almost unbelievable to look at. If a spot on the outer wall aren't covered in menacing gargoyles then it's covered in creepy looking statues or just crazy decorations.
And it's only 3pm. Shortly I'm gonna head to a Canadian bar see if they're playing the NBA finals. I just need my fix. Then for dinner probably this vegetarian place with one table that seats about 40 people. Nothing wrong with getting up close and personal with some French hippies.
But who makes plans whilst overseas?
A la prochaine

David Hi Had a thought, you should find a bar that serves genuine Absynthe and go the indulgent experience. Important to do whilst in Paris dont you think? Also dont forget to visit the Pierre La Chase cemetery and say hi to Jim Morrison from me!
Emma Jevons brilliant! was the crepe from a little window in a cafe? yummmm! that is some damn fine wandering!!!!
