For my last stop in Bolivia I had three days in the beautiful white city of Sucre, definitely my favourite place in Bolivia offering a little TLC and relaxation ahead of heading across to Brazil.
Enjoyed a few days in the sunshine, sightseeing, shopping and fitting in the odd pedicure!
This is me with our lovely guide Sole who looked after us in Bolivia and shared my enthusiasm for shopping and chocolate cakes so we became good friends.
Then it was time to jump on a plane to Santa Cruz ahead of our train across the border to Brazil. This was the first proper train ride of the trip and it was surprisingly comfortable for the 16 hr journey with films, reclining seats and a dining carriage. Managed to sleep most of the night arriving at the border town of Puerto Suarez at 8 am to be met by the biggest Mosquitos I have ever seen. I was honestly horrified but had to grit my teeth for the two border crossings. Leaving Bolivia was relatively painless but after walking across no mans land to Brazil we were met by a queue of about 1000 people which apparently hadn't moved all weekend. I could tell from our guide's face this was not expected. Thankfully after a little negotiation with the border officials we managed to jump the queue and head into Brazil. I have no idea what was said to get us in so fast but very grateful as I am sure we would still be queuing now if they hadn't pulled some strings for us.
Next stop, the Pantanal, piranha fishing, caiman and more Mosquitos.......
