Hi all,
We are currently in cape maclear soaking up the sun sea and sand and have good internet!!!
thank you all for your messages
so for a brief update :
after staying with a family in blantyre and having some home tlc with lasagne and pizza!!! we headed to zomba plateau - a kinda mountain where we ate lots of yellow berries, went on walk to see a waterfall and some beautiful hazy views of zomba town. from here we hitched a ride to lake chilwa where a local took us in and we stayed with him and his familyfor a night, however his room was ant and fly infested so our night was interesting with so many bugs and we were very thankful for our little mosi net cocoons of protection but it was very cool to stay with a local and he punted us on the lake to see how the locals fish.
next stop was liwonde national park - interesting transport from lake chilwa. in the back of a truck packed full or so we thought until we stopped next to 10 big maize bags that they then proceeed to put on top, so we clung on for dear life but an experience not to forget!!!! long day of travel where we took 3 more matolas but finished our journey on bicycle taxis which were pretty cool but a little uncomfy!
so our safari was AMAZING altho this kinda fails to describe it, we saw so much so many elephants warthog and antelope on our private boat safari!!!! a game drive with one guide each in a safari truck we were mega lucky to see all the endangered animals they are breeding in the rhino enclosure - we saw a small male rhino which we wanted to squeel at but both managed to keep our excitment in. zebra was another highlight and many species of antelope and birds. sunset and drinks by the river and a night drive topped of the day. we splashed out on a chalet for the night by the river listenign to hippos grunting and elephants coming to visit again. we didnt want to leave our luxurious mid trip treat!
but we are living it up here too camping right on the lake malawi beach, watching gorgeous sunsets and soaking up the rays, off on a boat trip later to snorkel and see cichlids (some fancy fish!), we've booked to kayak on monday so excited for that too.
after we head north, catching the ferry up the lake to the islands - likoma and chizmula which is apparently a second paradise
all in all we're having much fun one month in with one month to go and we hope your all doing good too, we really love getting your messages and are sorry we cant reply all that much, send us some of your cool weather it is still baking here!!!!
much love to all xxxx
