hello from Brazil! It is very, very hot here.
Just got back from spending the day in the park, sunbathing, drinking beer, swimming in the river and playing on the zip line....
I have spent the last few days in the Pantanel (Swamp land) which despite all the bugs was a brilliant few days.
We went for a walk to find a lake that had man eating caymen and pirhania in....then like completely sane people, just give dived in! The boys tell us that the pirahna fishes were nibbling on their nipples! Us girls weren´t so lucky....
In the evening we went caymen hunting and after a long evening of chasing fire flies around to entertain ourselves we caught a baby caymen.
The following day we went looking for those man eating caymen and pirhania again, and again we just casualy popped ourselves in the same lake as them....this time we had reason. Pirhana fishing! Today they decided to take more than just a nibble, they decided to bite a chunk out of on of the guys legs. Having caught one fish and a sight of the blood....I called it a day for me and pirhana fishing. On the back to our hammock (yes we were sleeping our hammocks and sharing with 50,0000 bugs) we spotted another man eating creature.... an anaconda (it stank!) which decide to bite our guide and leave its teeth in its arm as a reminder!
In the afternoon we went for a horse ride (no one told me this hurts your arse quite so much) which was great and a fantastic way to get close to the wildlife and watch the sunset. This little adventure was not without blood, as on the way back one of the girls fell off her horse.
In the evening we gutted, cooked and ate our little fishes....mmmmm
In case you wondered all those injured during their time in the Pantanel are safe and well.
I am now off for a little nap.
Love ´n´kisses
Ellen
