Ouw, whas occurin'?
Made it to Krakow, safe and mostly sound although the same can't be said for the Topdeck bus - we had a minor altercation with a Fiat and lost a section of the front bumper and a headlight, but no one was hurt so no panicing please. The quote above is from Gavin and Stacey, a Welsh/British show that we wached for two hour while Amy and Brian sorted out insurance details (them speaking english, the other driver speaking polish, and the insurance papers in dutch). We love that show now, it's like the tourgroup thang.
So, I haven't written about Budapest yet! So much for wild partying - everyone is sick and generally enhausted so no one really went out anyway! We stayed in and watched Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs instead which was nice, and had a good early night so that we woke up feeling spritely. Then Lexi and I went into town and did a big wander, visiting the Terror Museum (with a creepy basement where people were hung and we swear was haunted), an old Jewish synagogue, the huge fresh fruit market, and Hero's Square.
Yesterday was drive day. We had breakfast in Hungary, lunch in Slovakia, and dinner in Poland! It was a really big day, and what with the accident and all it was all rushed and by the time we'd had dinner at the hotel it was getting late and so we all just went to bed.
Today, Lex and I went into ye old Krakow town, intending to go to the salt mines but on the way to the bus stop we went to a info place and they told us that it was a three hour tour and cost quite a lot, so instead we found a mall and spent three hours there! It was weird, because we haven't even seen any modern buildings around Europe, let alone malls! It made us both feel so at home. After that, we walked down to the Jewish Quarter of Krakow which was pretty eerie (Krakow was packed, but in the whole JQ we only saw three people), and then went to Wawel Cathedral for a look-see. When we got back we decided to watch Schindler's List because we're going to Auschwitz-Birkenau tomorrow, and I was pretty horrified by it because it shows in detail how the liquidation of the Jewish ghetto that we walked through TODAY occurred, and what awful things happened to the poor people living there... Tomorrow will be a learning experience, and a huge rollercoaster of emotions I think.

Bye!
