Just finished leg two of my three-leg journey. So far so good. Had to make a quick stop for Mickey D's before boarding the last flight. I figured it was my last chance to eat beef for a month, so I had better take it. I'm happy to report the McDonald's in Amsterdam service mayonnaise (fritessaus) with their french fries. See? All you naysayers out there, there's a whole country that agrees with my tastes.
I have a couple of hours to kill and luckily there's a casino in this airport. What!?! Between the fries and the casino in the airport I may have found a new home. If Tom Hanks can do it, I bet I can pull it off. It seems I remember Amsterdam having another amenity to offer, but I can't quite remember what that is right now… Yes, the Dutch are my people.
On the flight from Atlanta to Amsterdam I sat next to an Indian couple who now reside in Austin, Texas. They're headed home for their nieces wedding in Delhi, and I have been officially invited! So exciting. It was on my list of things to do but who knew I would get an invitation before even arriving in the country. The Indian culture is so polite and friendly, at least as I have experienced so far. The fact that English is so prevalent may have something to do with it.
