Started getting excited today about my upcoming, unexpected trip to the land of color and spice.
I've got my visa (generously granted by the Indian consulate, with help from Travisa.com, for $208.00 of my precious travel dollars) and an international drivers license ($15.00 from AAA) in hopes of avoiding (what I've heard to be) treacherous trains and the grueling several hour wait in line for their tickets.
Lists are excitedly being scratched onto napkins and legal pads for packing and shopping and eating and sightseeing. Those lists are getting long, except for the packing list. I'm keeping that to the essentials as I've learned throughout past excursions that I need room in my backpack for shopping on location. A half packed bag for a month in India? You bet!
I officialy kicked off the planning stage today when I stopped at my local Half Price bookstore and purchased two travel memoirs on India. ('India: True Stories of Life in the Road' and 'Maximum City: Bombay Lost and Found') Anyone who knows me at all knows that the only thing I find more exciting than new adventures are new books and new food. Seems that this serendipitous journey offers all three!
