G'day y'all...
Landed down under and off to explore the wonderful sights of Sydney Austrailiaaa.. Which I am incredibly excited about. So, we left arrivals stepped outside to what we thought was the North Pole.. It is FREEZING.. You would think it was the british winter- okay, maybe not that bad.. But where is the humidity or some sort of heat? Fingers crossed it will perk up in the morning.. If not I may have to complain to the weather man.. I didn't sign up to cold weather when I planned this trip and definitely didn't come prepared!! Eeeek this week could be fun!
We didn't arrive until half tenish, so we sort of planned our next weeks activities and are ready to rock and roll in the morning! Elena didn't sleep as she's paranoid about a blood clot.. Although I think she's being a copy cat and just because I had one she wants one!!
First day exploring Sydney- we visited Darling Harbour which was so pretty, quite Cardiff Bay like but much bigger and business orientated! We also visited China Town.. Well it should be called China Street as it's just a street! A guy in a van took a photo of me under china town sign, which was slightly weird!
In the evening, we bought some very "expensive" wine... We were going to go for the usual vodka but at $37 for the cheapest vodka we decided against that. We drank in our room with our new roomie Julia then went to a club called Side Bar.. Night was fun fun - danced like a loon but all in the name of fun.
Next morning, we were feeling a tad rough after the expensive wine hit our heads! We embarked on a free walking tour of Sydney! It was raining on and off.. Which doesnt bode well with my hair or mood and was freezing.. But after 6 hours and approx 10k of walking the care had gone as well as about a stone in weight- not that I'm complaining! The tour was extremely funny and Jordy (our guide) was full of fruitful knowledge about Sydney. We visited lots of places including Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House, The Rocks, St Mary's Cathederal (not so much fun, but had to be done) and The Botanic Gardens. We had the most gimpish tour buddies ever and me and the girls named ourselves mean girls.. Me being Regina George, Elena being Gretchin Weener and Josie being Karen. Me and Josie pretty much giggled all the way around and laughed at Merthyr Girl and 'I've done everything better than you' girl as well! We also had a boy who was dressed in a suit, YES a suit.. Reminded me of Dean in work! Haha .. So that's what we called him.
We've decided words of Sydney.. Mine being brilliant and strategic.. Probs say it way too much! Elena's being seriau (definitely made up) and come on hoes! And Josie's being hilarious! All signs of a large vocabulary... Haha.
Day 3 was an early morning wake up call at 6am to make a trip to Featherdale Park, Blue Mountains and Three Sisters Rock (not sure how impressive a rock can be, but we'll see).. We met our driver Stu and he was a very intelligent man who taught us lots of useful facts about the history of Australia! Stu taught me the best phrase ever... "its alright to be ill aslong as it's got a name"
First stop was Featherdale Wildlife Park where we got to get close up with a kangaroo, a koala, a wallaby and a crocodile.. It was a fairly short stop but was worth it to see the famous aussie animals.
Second stop was Leura, a very quaint town which was such a pretty place- was like something out of an old American film. Then we headed to the infamous blue mountains, and Stu taught us that the reason their called the blue mountains is because the eucalyptus trees drops oils from it's leaves and those oils reflect from the sun, which creates a blue fog.. And we had a nice clear day so could see it clearly.. Was worth while seeing as it was lush! The three sisters rocks, however were slightly overrated! Impressive view but there rocks!
Next was one of the highlights of the day, we took a trip on the world's steepest railway into the blue mountains! It was amazing- very very very very steep!! Elena was almost crying and got off shaking.. We then got a cable car back up the mountain, which was just as terrifying. Before heading home, we managed to squeeze in another mode of transport being a catamaran cruise back to Sydney Harbour and under the Harbour Bridge.. So after our trip to Sydney we can all say that we've been over, under and through the Sydney harbour bridge! Exciting stuff eh!
In the night- we got our glad rags on... Actually I lie, we went to a bin bag party and made dresses/skirts/tops out of bin bags.. Our creative side came out so that evening we all rocked the bin bag fashion look.. Which I must say is the most unflattering thing I've ever worn.. Looked like a right heffa.. And the pictures will proof this!! I wasnt feeling the night out so went home early, which is impressive as that's the first time I've gone home earlier than 3 o'clock since the trips started!
Sunday was a massively chilled out day.. We had a massive lie in and then wandered down to Paddy's Market which is like a maze full of junk.. Although was nice to have a wander and pick up some postcards :) tonight there's a film night in the place were staying so Were just going to chill out before the monster walk up Sydney Harbour Bridge! Which I'm so excited about!!
Sydney Bridge was amaaaaazing.. The biggest adrenaline rush.. Although my worst nightmare came true being that walking over water on a see through bridge! Elena went up front by Richard (our guide), then I went in the middle and Josie went up back- Josie looked like a ghost for the first hour and I thought she may actually pass out from being so scared! We had to name our latch (the thing keeping us Safe) so I named mine Simon Cowell and SC kept me safe & sound! Got to the top and the view was lush! It was a mega clear day and could see everything in Sydney.. Well worth doing... Richard also told us that we sounded well educated.. How true is that?! Haha! Does he not know Josie's from the Rhondda Valley?
In the afternoon we took a bus to Bondi Beach to see what all the fuss was about.. And honestly, I'm struggling to see.. It's just an Aussie version of Barry Island- not too impressed.. Maybe it would be better in their summer...
It's our last night here and were just going to relax and pack as our flight to celebville is early in the morning, plus Elena is feeling paulie in bed.. Silly Julia has passed her dirty germs to us welsh girls!
So as the Aussies would say see you later alligator.. In a while.. (not 100% that's an Aussie saying.. But it works!)
LA here we comeeeeeeee
