Hopped on train from Marseilles, and ended up in Nice little French town called Nice. (See what I did there? Clever... I know ;) )
Went for a little wander, booked my future train reservations and visited the supermarket to prepare some dinner. Fancy dinner I might add! Not only was my pasta with mushrooms, green peppers, onions and tomato sauce..., but this time I added shrimp. Yep... A real gourmet hostel cooker right here!
(fun fact! Aussies call green peppers Capsicums, the French and British call zucchini courgettes, and eggplant is aubergine. Picking out my vegetables is like learning another language!)
Met two more Aussies, Andrew and Ali, and decided to go for a drink. Only to realize that nothing is open in Nice after 10 pm. Plan Two was to purchase a bottle of wine from the hostel (3.80€ how fantastic is that!?) And sit on the beach. Absolutely beautiful!
Next day I did a little wander, ended up on a cheesy little tourist train that took me around Nice, and then in the lat afternoon I decided to hop on a bus to Monaco. Climbed the big rock to see the Palace Princiers for a fantastic view, and happened to arrive just at dusk, so got to watch the sunset over Monte Carlo from there. Headed down to see the famous Monte Carlo Casino and their beautiful gardens and fountains a after that. Didn't see anyone famous... Bit did get a glimpse at the nice cars parked outside and driving around. I'm pretty sure it mist be a law in Monaco that you can't be seen in a car worth less than $80,000. Haha!
Returned home to the hostel to find Ali and Andrew planning a pub crawl, since in the off season there weren't any official ones going on. We managed to recruit another Aussie, and two american girls, and the fun began with some drinking games at the hostel (this is always how nights seem to begin in Europe.... Haha) American girls got pretty wasted at drinking games, so we decided to sober them up with a little rest on the beach. However faster than you can sit down, the plan quickly changed into let's go swimming! So... Now I can officially say that I have been swimming in the Mediterranean... In November. It was a little chilly, but totally worth it!
Nice was definitely a nice finale for France. Good bye France, knowledge of the language, and not being completely confused!! Haha
