We left Agassiz Dec 7th in nice weather and were lucky enough to have sunshine for the 5 days it took us to get to Death Valley. We dry-camped at Furnace Creek, almost in the middle of the Valley. Did some nice walks, 4 miles up into sand-dunes, out onto the salt flats which is the lowest point below sea-level in the western Hemisphere (weird to look up 282 feet and see a sign saying Sea Level!), into narrow canyons and out to viewpoints. The sky was really clear and at night you could see millions of stars. Coyotes howled and during the day one walked right by our site several times. Who knows what they find to eat out there! Some friends from home stopped in to visit, always fun J We had to stay an extra day as there was a fierce wind-storm with gusts that made the trailer sway and there was an advisory against travel for high-profile vehicles so we waited it out. We are now in Desert Hot Springs, near Palm Springs in a smallish resort ~ nice to have hook-ups again ~ love the full-pressure showers J Took quite a marathon of cleaning to get all the dust out that had blown in through all the nooks and crannies in Death Valley. Now enjoying line-dancing (ummm, only Elinor), Pickleball and the pool. There is a grassy dog park ~ nice for our Tess ~ her paws got cut the first day playing on the rocks in Death Valley ~ she was actually very subdued and just lay about for 2 days. For those of you who know her, you can imagine how sore her paws must have been! In a couple of days we are heading out for a spot on the Salton Sea, in southern California. The resort is called the Fountain of Youth ~ can't get more opposite to Death Valley J
Hope all is good with you,
Happy Thanksgiving (we're in the States now J )

Darrell and Doreen Thanks for the update..sure glad to hear that you are enjoying yourselves...That must have been some wind/sand storm..everything is great here..it was very cold last couple of weeks with the infamous Agassiz north/east winds! Now it is back to the usual November weather, lots of rain! We had a great time at our 50th anniversary...our kids did a wonderful job. Keep enjoying yourselves...house is secure and very little mail....talk later....
Barbara Great to hear about your trip so far...that wind storm must have been a bit off-putting to say the least. Poor Tess...yes, it must have been pretty bad for her to lie low !
Liz (and Dave!) Well, I knew you two enjoyed travelling , BUT, time-travelling?? I assume you meant to write "Nov 7th". We have seen so much on our news about the weather in the US we were wondering how ?if it was affecting you. We were down visiting Jamie and family last weekend which was lovely, but tiring as Serena (aged two) just wanted to play with us! Kaori is keeping well but with baby number 2 due on Christmas day I reckon we are due for a funny Christmas! Keep having fun folks.
Dave Page Happy holidays Dave & Anne
annie & Jay Scholton so good to hear from you. We spent 6 weeks camping in National parks and then our van decided to die!!! So we are still trying to get it fixed. Staying home this winter!
Barbara How warm is it ? Today we got a dump of very wet, heavy snow...roughly 10 -15cm !
