Hi all ~ here we are in a county park in the desert just outside Tucson, Arizona. It is a nice desert here ~ lots of different cacti (like saguro, the one that looks like a man with arms, cholla, that is nasty and throws off spiny pieces, ocotilla that grows many vertical arms and lots more that we don't know) and has shrubs and low trees. The desert near Yuma was very different, rocky and dusty with little vegetation. While near Yuma we went to a hot air balloon festival which was fun ~ we went at sunset and they lit all the balloons at once to make "the glow" and you could walk in amongst the balloons. Yesterday we went to the Desert Museum a few kms away ~ it really is more like a zoo with desert animals like coyote, javelina, ocelot, black bear, snakes and tarantula but of course, for us, we enjoyed watching the raptor flight and the walk-in hummingbird aviary.
It is great weather here ~ sunny and would be hot but there is usually a nice breeze. It cools off quickly as soon as the sun goes behind the mountains.
Right now Malcolm is watching the Grey Cup ( that's why I am at the local MacDonald's catching up with you:)) . Tomorrow we head east to New Mexico ~ new territory for us!
I have put a few photos in the "photo" section (clever that!) so hope you can see them.
Even though we don't have internet all the time we do check emails frequently so please send us your news ~ love to hear from you all.
bye for now,
Malcolm, Elinor and Tess the brat.

Alison We are just north of you in Scottsdale! It's like summer here 25C and blue, blue sky. I can see why you head south for the winter now. We go home tomorrow :( after 10 days here. We've been hiking, biking and just loving the sun You'll love New Mexico, especially Santa Fe. Have fun.
