Whats Crackalackin!?
So once again it has been quite along time since we updated the blog...apologies. I have to say its all been abit crazy for the last couple of weeks, and not all in a good way :(
When we were still in surfers parradise, we got hit by a ridiculous amount of rain which kinda forced us to move down the coast again, however it didnt stop...for about 10 days. As we carried on down the the highway we heard on the radio that one of the towns we were supposed to travelling through (Kempsey) was actually compleatly isolated becasue the main roads in and out of the town were flooded...badtimes. So, we hung around in a place called Nambucca Heads to see if it would start to clear up but we were told by some locals that the roads were to stay closed for another three of four days...more badtimes. So as the place wasnt exactly a hoot we were only left with one option, drive around.
Bearing in mind that australia is slightly smaller than the entire USA, our detour wasnt exactly 'Compton via Niton'. Our trip inland to a place called Armidale was probably about a 8hour detour in total and it just happened to be bloody freezing as well. But we eventually got around Kempsey and got back onto the highway down the coast.
Im sure im missing out lots of important details but im just giving you the just of the situation...So the next exciting place was the Blue Mounains, which were amazing and dry! woo! The Blue Mountains (blue because the eucalyptus leaves makes them have a blue haze around them) are rated as the number 1 thing to see in Australia (according to our book anyway) and they really are an impressive sight. However...theres always a however these days....It was absolutely freezing, and i mean when you packed to come on a holiday full of sunshine and lollypops and laughed at the thought of bringing a coat...4 degrees, sleeping in a tin box with wheels. Oh well........
So today was the day we gave up our little lovemobile and are proceeding on foot for the next week in Sydney. Finding the place wasnt nearly as bad as we thought and there was no hassle with the van, shockingly the total KMs was almost 7000km which even the guy at the Hire company was surprised at...not bad considering i had never driven further than Freshwater :)
So...i will now try to upload some of the random photos we have collected in the last couple of weeks...and then i will go and find myself and my ladyfriend a reasonably public house to enjoy our first night in the Sydney in.
We miss everybody very mush and wish you could have enjoyed the cold and the rain with us! ;)
Enjoy the festival, love Danny x
