Hey all,
we've been abit rubbish at keeping you up to date.. sorry! We're now in Surfer's Paradise on the Gold Coast, so we've covered quite alot of ground since last time!
So, from our friendly hostel/campsite in Hervey Bay we decided to book a day trip to Fraser Island as we hadn't done anything like that so far. We ended up having to get up to catch a coach at 7:30, which took us to the ferry and over to Fraser Island, which is the biggest sand island in the world dontcha know..
It was abit of a strange experience because neither of us expect quite so much of a coach trip.. but they took us to all the cool sights - Central station which is in the centre of the rainforest, Eli creek - really beautiful clearwater creek (with no crocs hiding in it!), this huge wreck of a cruise ship and Lake Mackenzie - which is a huge freshwater lake in the middle of the island with really clear blue water and white sand!
After Hervey bay we headed down the coast to Noosa, which is a really pretty quite up-market resort town - probably one of my favourites so far. We stayed there for a few nights and chilled on the beach, but ended up going to the Cinema one of the days, to see X-men origins, because it rained all day!
We then headed down to Caloundra which was a pretty normal sort of town, the only great thing about that was we could get Baskin Robbins peanutbutter chocolate ice cream which is just as good as it sounds!
We swiftly moved on from our campsite there (which was populated mostly by completely anal old people lol), and headed for our next exciting destination - AUSTRALIA ZOO!!! Which I must say was Irwin-tastic. It's actually on a road called 'Steve Irwin Way', pretty cool huh? He's like a national hero! We saw lots of 'Roos and got to feed them too! I didn't like the crocodiles much.. I know my mum wouldn't either. But in contrast we went to watch a presentation they did with there SIX young and bouncy tigers, they had a huge enclosure with glass walls and a huge pool, their handler was getting them to play and jump around in the water - they were awesome, I wanted to take one home!
After all that excitment we decided it was better (and cheaper) to give the centre of Brisbane a miss and headed straight for the beaches! Surfers paradise is pretty cool.. lots of surfers as you may have guessed, spent the day on the beach yesterday (mostly reading, I've read 3 of the twighlight books in about a week). Today we went to the mall and later on I think we're going to the cinema again - can't resist angels and demons! Missing you all loads - look out for some pics on our facebook pages! Love love xxx
