Bula from Fiji (thats what everyone says here for hello, goodbye, cheers etc)!
El and I have been island hopping in the yasawas, a groupd of island just north west of the mainland. They were absolutely gorgewous. White sandy bays, palm trees and beautiful green hills. We started off in the north at the most basic backpackers 'resort' called sunrise resort. Here we stayed in a dorm with about 10 other people and made friends with a couple of swedish guys called Daniel and Anders. We were feeling a bit homesick and jet lagged so they really raised our spirits and we spent a particularly fun evening with them drinking beer and playing card games. It was still raining quite a bit but we didnt want to sit around doing nothing so we followed the trek across the island. The path was scenic but very muddy, so with the boys leadin the way we trudged barefoot along the path slipping and sliding whilst flailing our arms and making weird 'woahoh' type noises. When we reached the other side where the fancy Nanuya resort was next to the famous blue lagoon we took shlter and a nice glass of white wine. We also walked back along the beach when the tide went out and we saw lots of tiny brown starfish and sea cucumbers that weed when you picked them up..he he. Meals there were signaled by a man banging what sounded like a drum and we'd all come running, not that there was really anything to look forward to, just noodles, rise and strange gooey sauces.
Next we continued on to Nacula island, where we stayed at Oarsmans resort. This resort was much ncer and the dorms were airy and clean. We made freinds with some girrls from Buckinghamshire called Jessica and Natalie (who is going to nottingham to do sociology next year). It was pretty chilled here as well and very beautiful. Also the sun finally came out so we lay out on the gorgeous bay that looked towards more green hily islands and turquoise waters. In the evening we took part in a crab race (with hermit crabs). El and I were both so competitive and my crab nearly one, but fell at the last hurdle when it refused to come out of its shell in the semi final :(
