When I was getting my visa for America, the very serious guy behind the window tried talking me out of going because it will be really hot. So I left no expecting snow until I get to Canada.
It snowed the night before leaving to project. We left Flagstaff, driving with snow on the side of the road the whole way to Navajo.
The other Kiwi Steve is with me on this project, so we were really excited and the others have seen snow enough back home. I was really excited to camp in snow.
The Navajo rangers but a BBQ on for us when we arrived to say thank you for all the work this year.
We had a snow ball fight there and then went and set up camp in the snow. It was the first time I had used this tent and hadn't set one up in awhile so I took ages.
We then played international piggy in the middle with a football. That was lots of fun, and the game kept getting rougher and rougher which was wicked. I close-lined Jacob cause he would have caught the ball and New Zealand would have been in the middle.
Cooked dinner in the snow and then we just sat around in the tent telling jokes.
It was awesome sleeping in a tent while snow was landing on it. The snow was really thick around the tent when I got up.
Supervisors went to check if the trail was safe enough to walk down to work. And it wasn't so we just shoveled snow all morning went packed up camp and drove back to Flagstaff.
I was gutted but happy I got to see the ruins and the canyon.
Now we get today off work and spend Sat and Sun working on the ACE houses and on Monday we drive to Lake Mead for 4days to do seed collection. Lake Mead will be warm it is the lake formed by the Hoover Dam and really close to Las Vegas.
