Hello, mon morning and cant think of a better place to wakeup, overcast the last few days but beautifully sunny now, we met a local south african man who is staying in our hostel with us and he is awesome, he emigrated to australia where his wife and 6month old baby are waiting for him but he has returned to south africa to sort out his visa. today ,as he had a few free hours, walked us round the township called alexander? its the oldest ghetto in africa and was an amazing expirience as we got to see how many africans live, and it was a crazy difference to the brand new shopping center built less than a mile away... puts things into perspective really as there were children running around barefoot through water which reaked (feel very lucky right now!). but it also changed my opinion on the percieved violence as although we stood out like two very pale sore thumbs we had no trouble apart from a couple of people who were confused and asked us if we were lost! but after we got over the fact that people were going to stare as we relaxed and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of it all. and our makeshift guide told us AFTER we left that there were xenophobic ataks there 6 months ago!!! i bought a man thong!!
Anyway one more day in out beautulf jo'burg than we are traveling to Nelspruit and will have a few days on safari! then we have aranged(i know! the word aranged is quite alien for me to use) to meet up with ben in durban for 2 weeks of chilling and (wind)surfing. adios
