another blog written after but for very good reason...coffe bay is in the most remote place ever! bout 100km from mthata Spent about 7/8 days there and it was easily the best place yet! awesome views every morning as we were living in traditional xhosa huts that were backed on to the sea! and the weather was amazing, sunny everyday. we spent the first morning enjoying the sun on the beach and the evening in the bar which had a large list of rules like not being able to drink with your right hand, all these rules led to one outcome, downing your drink.. anyway the next few slightly painful mornings were spent surfing on the local beach, about a 5 minute walk away from our hut, which was a deserted beach apart from local fishermen! paradise! apart from ladys selling beads which did grate somewhat as they cover you in beads! and i dont have any money is not an excuse... got a good 5 days of surfing so easily the best place by far, worst part was that our hut was across a stream, i say stream but it turned into a river at night and trying to navigate across when youve had to many castles and are wearing flipflops turned into a prity funny/wet experience. again met some legends and had a wicked time, the highlight was easily our second to last day where we hicked to hole in the wall (google it) prity cool place and the hike (i know ME hiking) was amzing as it followed the coast and the view was only interupted by wild mountain goats, they could run! that evening we visited a local village and were welcomed in by the village head. an awesome meal and traditional dancing ensued which was helped in my part by a lot of local maize beer which, acording to jo our guide, was 'brewed by the women and drunk by the men.. i love my culture', i got quite a taste for it but luke said the smell of goat s*** put him off somewhat, it added to the flavour if anything, anyway now in jefreys bay and willwrite bout it soon as we will be here for a while im sure!
