Most of the crew had an early turn in last night to get some well needed rest.
We had grand plans to wash all the trucks this morning (although some were done last night) and then they would be clean for the rest of the trip. However, we had rain and a little bit of snow this morning and some of our efforts wereundone.
We had a late start this morning at 0930, so folks had a leisurely breakfast, some went for a run and some just slept in.We then departed for St. George, Utah.Arrived at about 1100 in order to attend a Rotary meeting. Before the meeting we had the opportunity to do a little bit of shopping at a mall to pick up needed supplies. Then it was over to the Holiday Inn for the Rotary meeting.Cedric lead the group in O Canada and then instead of the Star Spangled- we sang Home on the Range. The St. George club was very welcoming and we enjoyed a super buffet lunch (yes more food). We enjoyed the traditions of the Club and then Allan gave a presentation on the Rotary to Mexico project, which was well received. One of their members was a spry 98 years young!!!
The St George club joined us outside for some group pictures before we set off for Las Vegas.
Travelled south and went through the Virgin River Gorge. This is a spectacular 15 miles ofriver, rock and mountains. The colors are reds and brown. Then through Mesquite, Nevada and on to the Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas. We were all expecting hot and dry weather, but today has been cool and damp with rain showers- but there is no more snow!
Got into Las Vegas and had a quick Rotary meeting in Brent and Toms room. Then everybody spread out. Some took the shuttle and went to the strip for a walk around, refreshments and supper. Some did a little gambling. Some took in shows, and a good time was had by all.
