Worth the trip on its own: the food. Where to start, first the Hoppers, a pancake made in a bowl shaped pan so the middle is thick and moist and the edges are thin and crispy. Either plain or with an egg in the middle, eaten with fish curry or chicken curry and spicy Seeni Sambol (spicy caramelized onion heaven), scooped up by breaking off bit of the hopper. The hopper man at the hotel was doing 4 at a time and serving hot out of the pan. The curry, rice, milk rice, roti, fruit and parippu (lentils), were all great - after 3 plates of this for breakfast who needs lunch? Sri Lankan food is good whenever you can get it, Mount Lavinia Hotel food is great!
