I woke up and immediately got the iPad out. Edd came back from the bathroom with a coffee for me: good man. He then left me to my book and went for a swim. I only had about 5 minutes left and joined him shortly after, downstairs on the loungers. I'd bought the next 2 books off Amazon the night before, but they hadn't downloaded and I was struggling to figure out why. The bungalows restarted the internet and I sat right next to the router to get the best signal. After struggling for nearly an hour, we managed to get them redelivered from Amazon and I started reading the next book, much to Edd's delight.
There was an opportunity to go to an island with the group of people that ran the accommodation and some of the guests, but neither of us were feeling very good and needed to be in close proximity to a bathroom. We skipped the day trip and stayed put, nothing like feeling ill, on a long tail boat, in the middle of the sea.
I chatted to my mom for a while, on a Whatsapp call, as Skype left a lot to be desired in these parts. We first got cut off because apparently the internet konks out at 12pm every day for no particular reason, then it came back on and the electricity konked out 20 minutes later. It was like being in deep dark Africa. We managed to conclude our conversation on our 3rd attempt and then ordered a pizza for breakfast/lunch (western food when you're feeling grim). We then had an afternoon nap to regain our strength.
We resurfaced after 3pm and went for a swim, we were both really hot, even though we had a fan blowing straight on us. My sunbed had been reclaimed by a guy who had not so politely dumped my towel in the sand. There were tables and other empty chairs all around so his impoliteness was just unnecessary. Which I told him. Categorically. It made sense that he wasn't staying at our bungalows, no body that actually resides here, however temporarily, is that rude.
People had come back from there boat trip and went to freshen up, we planned to go to the night market that evening and joined them in the all round wash. We then joined them at the bar/restaurant area and sat around chatting and drinking 2 for 1 cocktails. We walked down to the local and ordered some food, to-go this time. They were watching Cambodian Idol on their TV, which had a cockroach-crossed grasshopper on the screen. No body moved it and we were surprised it hadn't moved on it's own, considering the cat calls coming from the speakers. We walked back to the bungalows and ate our take out at the bar - they'd run out of food, but had an issue restocking, as it was a long weekend and everyone was closed.
In the end, we didn't go to the night market as we were all having a good time where we were. Edd and I went to bed at 10.30pm. It turned out that everyone else either went to the night market (which was open until 4am) or went to bed - the place was dead after 11pm. No music blaring, just quiet. It was amazing.
