I spent the last 4 days on a tour around the salt plains (and other stuff) near Uyuni. Was great fun and probably the best 4 daysin a row of the trip so far.
We were pretty packed into our jeep with 9 in total (me, driver, cook, 2 English girls, 2 Austrian guys, a German chap and Davy from Belgium, who I have been travelling with). Fortunately we all got on very well and we had a good laugh over lots of games of cards/drinking games.
The first 2 days were on the salt "lake" which is amazing. We had lots of fun playing with photos (you can muck about with the perspective as there is no "background"). We stayed in a salt hostel the first night (walls, tables, chairs, beds, floor all made from salt). We went past lots of lagoons with flamingos and got to see some boiling sulphur mud "baths" and swi in some thermal waters (at 6AM whilst it was freezing outside). Got to play "doctor" a bit as a French girl managed to fall down into one of the boiling sulphur mud lakes; she got a nasty blistering burn around her ankle but fortunately her boot saved her from a bigger burn. No idea how hot the boiling mud was?
I´ve put some photos on the website which you can look at. I managed to get a santa hat so will take this point to wish you all a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
