Hi all!! We have not long reached Vang Vieng in Laos! The computer here is pretty terrible and claims its going to take over 2 hours 2 put 20 pictures up so im going to have to leave it until the next place sorry!!
After I last blogged in Mission beach I went out on a rented boat to the islands and found Sean Connerys old house along with some other deserted islands which was really cool (again pictures will follow)!! We then stayed the night there and left early to drive to cape tribulation, we stopped off on the way for lunch at a national park and then at a world heritage rain forrest with water falls and rapids that we could swim in!! However as its winter and it was raining only the driver, the older german couple and myself went for a swim and slide down the waterfalls! We came out freezing and with some new leech friends got dry and got back on the road!! An hour or two later we arrived at the hostel, this was based deep in the rain forrest in small wooden huts....it was amazing one of my favourite hostels so far!!! We left early again the next morning to make our final trip to Cairns! The majority of the group were on the 14 day tour (like me) but some were on for 15 days - an extra night and then a day on a boat scuba diving etc on the great barrier reef and then about 6 were on for 32 and/or 42 days going in to the outback up to darwin, alice springs and back around to sydney. So on the way to Cairns the toyr guide booked me in to a hostel in the middle of Cairns called Gilligans, and I booked on to the boat trip with some of ze germans. We made one stop off just before Cairns so a couple of ze germans and I could go Bungy jumping!!! About 5 of us decided to do it and made our way to the top, I was the only lad, with 3 of the german girls and one of the older women from the tour, the older woman went first as they were doing it based on weight and she was slightly bigger than me! the girls all seemed really nervous and scared so obviously not wanting to loose to the germans I had to be Billy Big Balls and go for it without looking phased!! Job done! However, when I left gilligans to fly to Singapore I left the usb with my jump photos....gutted!!! I do still have the t shirt as proof!! That night we went out in Cairns to a place called 'The Woolshed' which was chaos!!! Getting up early to go on the boat to the great barrier reef was not easy, but it was very worth it!!! When we got back from the reef about 5pm everyone went back to their hostels to get changed and ready to meet for food later on as it was the last night together! I forgto to mention I was the only one staying in Gilligans as the tour guide said he didnt think it was the germans sort of place!! It was an awsome party hostel!! I had some crazy 40 year old swedish woman sleeping on the bed underneath mine!! Anyway we all ended up going out again to the woolshed and then back to Gilligans as it was also a club!! That night turned out to be a really good night and a good way to say bye to everyone! I got up in the morning went for a hair cut, which turned out to be crap because the bloke refused to do what i asked but it could be worse.... I then got to the airport and flew to Singapore via Darwin!
I met Stace in Singapore a few days ago and we've done a lot already!!!! I got to the hostel about 10pm and went out for some food and a drink with Stace. We came back early so we could explore Singapore the next day! We visited the main sites around the city and then at night meet Staces' cousins husband (who lives in Singapore) for a night out! This was pretty eventful we went up to a bar on the roof of a 64th floor of a building! This turned out to be pretty much the only place you can be without being pestered by about 5 'ladies of the night' at any one time! Later on in the night one of the aformentioned 'working girls' managed to put out her cigerette on my arm which hurt... i didnt complain to much incase she offered me any freebies to say sorry. Other than this the cityu was really nice, very clean, modern and busy! The next day we caught the bus to Kuala Lumpar, which was not as clean in parts but others looked identical to Singapore. We had one day and night here so went to see all the sights and then went to bed early so we could get up early to get some jobs done and catch the plane at mid-day! This did not go to plan, we had a very easy morning and ended up getting to the airport at 2.48 for a 3 o clock flight!!! we ran through the airport didnt check our bags in just took them on the plane and managed to catch the plane (obviously we were the last on, sweating buckets from sprinting through the airport with all out luggage!!). But we made it so the joke is on them!! So tip of the day -- You DEFINATLY do not need to be at the airport 3 hours before an international flight of your happy to run and smile at a few of the staff!! We have decided not to try this again though!! We spent a night in Vientiane, Laos where we had loads of food and 'beerlaos' for about 4 pounds! The money is really confusing as its 13,000 kip to everp 1 pound but everything is really cheap which is so nice after being in america and australia!!! This morning we got the bus from Vientiane to Vang Vieng - the home of tubing!! SO we are chilling out for the rest of the day today and then tomorrow we are going tubing (siting in a huge inner tube floating down the river) and possibly kayaking or climbing!! Its a lot nicer here than Vientiane we have got today and tomorrow here and then we have to get the bus back to Vientiane to fly over to Hanoi!!!
I think this is about everything so far!! well at least all i can remember with out looking at the photos!! Hope this is ok!!
