Election day in the US today, and Melbourne Cup day in…Melbourne. And another windy day in Wellington. It's definitely weird how fast the weather changes out here. On my hangover day it was really scary to be outside, things were flying through the air, rain was pouring down and blown straight into your face, and it was damn cold. An the next day...it was summer ! No wind, at least 10 degrees warmer and bright and sunny. Had gone for a run in the morning, getting back into it, feel I'm improving !
We went to the harbour later, and it was so warm that Tina thought it was a good idea to do our harbour jump. There's a kind of place along the waterfront where you can jump of a platform into the water. It was actually Chaiennes idea to do it before leaving Wellington, and I was in, but she was ill her last day here, so we cancelled it. But now the time had come (without Chaienne though)...so we ran back to the hostel to get our swimming gear, and back again to jump in.... It was full of people, and hey, we watch people jumping off when we're sitting there...so now we had our own crowd. It's not even that high, but the water looked pretty damn cold...and even 4 meters is high when you look down. Tina went first, I hesitated a while, which was funny, coz everybody was waiting to take a photo...and waiting...and waiting...haha. Somebody started to count down, so I jumped in...not too stylish...."bommetje"next time. And the water was not too cold, and I caught a fish !!!! There's was a very small fish (whitebait...NZ delicacy...!!) between my toes when I got out of the water, really !!!!!Well, enjoyed the rest of the day in the sun, and had a lazy evening. Watched so many DVD's I can't even remember all of them.
The wind was back the next day, and today it's even worse. Perfect day to spend to much money on the Internet !!!! So I just did... Some people apparently don't like sleeping, so good way to keep in touch ;-)))) ! (And message to that person: I've spent the rest of the afternoon doing serious stuff instead of MSNing, writing application letters, so I'll get a job and you'll be able to come over to stay at my place next year !!!!)
Gonna go for a drink tonight with one of the girls of my Straybus, met two days ago again, she's leaving tomorrow. Making a list of companies I'm gonna send open applications to....I want a job !!! I'm on a mission here, and I'mnot giving up on it !. Iben is coming back from Hastings on Saturday..turned out she can't do the fruitpicking coz she's allergic. On Sunday all the girls are taking the ferry to Picton on teh South Island, but I'm heading towards Auckland. Time to do my own thing again. Not sure how long I'm gonna stay in Auckland, might take a couple of days to apply for jobs, and lock myself up in the library...free internet and all the NZ newspapers to find all the jobs. Thinking about doing the North Island with Stray first, surf in Raglan, get to the South Island again and do some hikes around Picton and Nelson. So I can still check my emails in between. And if that's not working out and still no jobofferI'm going to visit all the possible employers in every damn city in New Zealand in person after Christmas. Mmm, I realize this is not the most interesting story on my blog.... Guess being in a big city is just not that interesting ey ! But at least you know I'm not wandering around in some NZ forest on my own, getting lost...or jumping of bridges and stuff....no worries, I'm all good. Will do that later though ! The wandering around in the forest...not the getting lost bit !
Need to get back in touch with myself and nature, no better way to do that then to go outdoors !
Ow, and saw the best fireworks day ever yesterday evening (6th of November). Not because Obama got to be the new president of the USA (which is cool as !) but becuase of Guy Fwakes day. This guy tried to blow up the parliament building in London in 1660 or so, and got caught. He ende up in pieces...but that's the reason of the firework. And it was the guy that did the fireworks for the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Sydney. Awesome !
Hugz to all of you !!! Marlieke
