Ey Mates,
Yay, have been back on a good old Orange Stray bus today !!!! Haha, felt right at home. Deciced to do the free City Orientation Tour again, the hostel and Queenstreet started to freak me out a bit. Spent quite a lot of time yesterday on the internet, looking for jobs, so took a day off from that. Kinda needed a break...pfew, never say your jetlag is over if it ain't. Pfew, you just don't feel hungry at the time you're supposed to eat dinner. And I woke up at 3 am, feeling really hungry...and very awake, and couldn't sleep anymore at all. Good to have an iPod video... My body apparntly still feels like being on the other side of the world !
Also went to the Department of Conservation Office yesterday...well it actually has been flooded because it has been raining heaps out here for the last two months, so they moved to the Ferry Building. Got some info about campsites and daywalks. Thinking about taking the ferry to Rangitoto for a day hike later on. But I'm getting old, coz my hip hurts like h%ell at the moment, man, feels like I'm falling apart. Probably a bit overdone at the Airborne after all...so just taking it a bit easy for now.
The Stray trip today was sweet as...didn't expect any less. Had a nice chat with Liz, the guide, and met Worm again(who was the guide last year) in the pub during lunch. He really liked the fact that I was back...one more converted person haha. He's off to Raglan this weekend for a surf...nice. Probably gonna see him around again.
At the end of the day we went to Auckland Bridge for some bungyjumps. Hadn't been there before, and it was really cool. They get you in a harness and you can walk all the way to the bungy platform in the middle of the bridge, or acually under the bridge. One guy wanted a dip, and he totally went under water totally...and it was freezing out there ! Well, had a great day, and really looking forward to doing another Stray trip myself. Have been promoting Stray a lot trying to get everybody on a Stray bus !
Some very promising news on the jobfront as well ! I got the address of a recruitment agent from Janneke who owns New Zealand Info Center. She's the one that helped to make my Kiwi CV. Janneke also has a jobsearch agency, but that's quite expensive, I'm more of the DIY business (Do It Yourself...), so it's actually really nice she gave me this address. I wrote an email to this recruitment agency (Quay Personnel ) yesterday and attached my CV. And they tried to reach me 4 times today before I was able to call back. Pretty hard to make serious phonecalls on a Straybus, so had to wait to get back at ACB.
And.....the woman I spoke with was very enthusiastic about my letter and my CV ! She actually said I was gifted, and she really wants to try to find me a good joboffer !!!! Ow...allright . So I've got my first interview on Tuesday, and she's going to meet me at Britomart, so she actually comes to me ! Apparently they are fighting for good candidates, and she didn;t want to let go of me. So I'm gonna keep u guys updated ! And those Kiwi'sa are all so nice and relaxed to talk too, way more informal then in The Netherlands. Guess I have to shop for some decent trousers this weekend though...and maybe shoes....
Also have about 10 application letters to write to CYF. Loads of interesting positions in Social work and Youth work at the moment. But would be great if a recruitment agent could help out me as well...and it's for free !
Not sure I'm going to stay at ACB or move to a cheaper hostel. Gonna be around for a while, at least till Karlyn is driving through. Will decide about that tomorrow.
Well, that's all for now. Going to get some food now. And hope I will be able to sleep tonight....yaaaaawwwwwnnnn.
Look after you all, love, Marlieke
