The train into San Diego was an amazing ride because we followed the coastline the whole way. It was a much nicer change to the LA life when we arrived here. It's not as busy and the streets are so clean! Craft beer seems to be the thing here, there is a bar on every corner selling a local brew. We caught a cab to where we were staying for the next couple of night's at Dave and Anna's place. I've known Dave for over 15years so it was great to catch up and see Aussies living the American dream. The next day was tourist mode and a full day of exploring. San Diego is a military town. There are naval marines everywhere and one look out into the bay and you could count 3 aircraft carriers and battleships as far as the eye could see. There was also a forth aircraft carrier which has been turned into a museum. So we spent half the day walking around the USS Midway and getting selfies with fighter jets. After that we had Ben and Jerry's then caught the ferry to Coronado where we followed Anita to the hotel on the other side of the island where the Marilyn Munroe film 'Some Like it Hot' was made. We didn't get back from our day until 7pm, but even then the sun was still up.
The whole west coast is having a heat wave at the moment. We haven't had a single day below 30degrees and it doesn't really get dark until 9pm.
For dinner, Dave took us to a Mexican place where we had taco's and sangria. The airport is really close to the city and the cool thing about this bar is it's literally a stones throw from the runway. The back of the bar is an open roof area where the aircraft come over so close that you feel like they are going to land on you.
Today is my birthday in Australia but here I still have one more day of my 20's left. We are about to go pick up the mustang and start our drive to Vegas via Route 66. I have no idea what is going to happen in Vegas and who knows when you will hear from me again! hahah
