Hi there boys and girls,As you may know, England have lost the Ashes and have done it in STYLE, however, Dubs still wanted to go to the MCG test because it was the 100th Test at the MCG and Shane Warne's 700th Test Wicket was inevitable, so basically History was in the making in more ways than one. Originally, we both had tickets to the 4th Day which is on the 29th December, however, Dubs bought some other tickets for day three and our boss at work invited him to the first day in a corporate box.On the 3rd day he went with a boy we used to go to Nottingham Uni with (Dan Perfect) and Chad from work. We arrived at the ground early and were surprised to find out that there were loads of tickets on sale. We met loads of England fans who told us that all tickets were general admission which was great because we had tickets in the back row of the third tier which has a really bad view. Anyway, we sat with the Barmy Army and the atmosphere was already rocking! There were about 3,500 in the bottom tier and a further 7,000 dotted around the ground. As the game started, we knew we had to get the Aussies out early. We got em out for 419, which meant they had a first innings lead of 260 runs. Everyone realised that if we did not bat for at least two days we would lose by either about ten wickets or by an innings!Early on the barmy army were in full voice and completely outsinging the Aussies. The Aussies were trying to wind us up by coming into the Barmy Army section and waving Australia flags around, however, we just mocked them so hard and each person that came in got arrested, it was so funny! The wickets began to fall and as we got closer to losing by an innings, the songs got louder and more inventive. The game was over by about half five, we had lost by an innings and 99 runs, another thrashing. In conclusion, The Melbourne test was a great experience. Even though we were completely outplayed, the atmosphere on the third day was amazing and definitely made up for all the banter that Dubs was on the receiving end of! We reckon that even if you do not like Cricket and MCG test is worth going to and Cess is a bit gutted the match did not go to a fourth day so she could have experienced it. She aint well at the mo tho, she has a fever, ear ache and her glands are up.
Anyway, today we are going to St Kilda because we have not been there in a long time. We are going to go to the Stokehouse restaurant which does the nicest seafood pizza and pasta. We are also going to have a walk along the beach as the weather is starting to get better. Tomorrow, we are going to go for a picnic in the Botanic Gardens with Uncle David and Ella because there was a lot of food left over from Christmas Day and that is where we wanted to go on Christmas Day anyway! On New Year's Eve we are going to go to Federation Square in the City Centre for a Fireworks Display, We hope you are all well, If anyone wants any of Dubs's programmes, please let us know ASAP and we can mail it out to you.
lot os love d&Cxxxxxxxxxxxxx
