Week 2 of Denmark
Ok, first of all, I will tell you what went down on the first weekend when Sara got home from catching up with her friends from the city. Nothing... She decided she wasn't in the mood to go out. Fair call, we both decided not to drink for the month up to Xmas eve, and I don't know if I want my first experience of the Danish night life to be a sober one. Sara doesn't think she will be able to hold out if she goes out trying not to drink. Which is funny, but I can understand where she is coming from. Clubs and pubs are so different when you experience them sober. (And beers cost like $12 each... CRAZY!!!)
Anyways, didn't do much the entire weekend. On Saturday we went to watch Sara's brother play a game of b-ball, they came back from a 10 point deficit to win. It was quite exciting. I also bumped into Jesper, who I hadn't seen since the period of my leavers. So that was also cool. Afterwards we watched some dvds we purchased earlier in the week.
Sunday, Sara had to start work again for 4 hrs. This was the exact 4 hrs that her family came over for lunch. It was an interesting experience. It was Sara's dad and mum, her brother and his gf and her mum. It was weird being on a table when everyone had a conversation in Danish and then laughs, and then explains it to you afterwards. But the meal itself was awesome. Smoked salmon for entree, then roast hare for mains. I was warned to watch out for the bullet pellets that might still be in the meat, as it was a freshly hunted hare, not one bought from a supermarket. Other then that, Sara and I went with her brother to the city to watch Hitman. Entertaining movie. I little bit like a Bourne Supremacy rip off with a lot of bald people. But I enjoyed it.
The week wasn't very interesting for people looking in. Sara is back to full time work. So I enjoyed myself reading Harry potter (the whole of book 4) and watch some dvds and just relax. Its good not having to think about work for a change. I think Sara is feeling bad, because I am getting a little bored sometimes. But I would rather be a little bored in Denmark, relaxing. Then working 40+ hrs a week in Perth.
There were some highlights. Sara was very happy that she got a new laptop. We spent 2 half days looking at shops (mind you it was the same shop... she just kept going back to have another look at the laptop). On that day we also had lunch by 'the stream'. We ate at an Italian restaurant called 'Grappa wine restaurant' I was expecting food prices too be a bit more expensive then in Australia. Sara ordered a pizza which was around $20-25, which I thought fair enough. but I had Panini... it was around $20. Judging by the price being similar to the pizza, I thought it was going to be big... So to my surprise when I received most expensive cafe style sandwich I ever had. Luckily Sara shared her pizza. But I'm not big on b****ing. So I will change the subject.
The other high light of the week was that a played pool with Sara and her friend, Siri. She's pretty cool. They decided to play girls onto me. I won all the games, which was fun. But afterwards we went to the tasteless cafe again to have a hot chocolate (and Sara had a cappuccino... but details like this are not relevant... so sorry for putting them in). Siri challenged me to a game of Fooze ball... I lost 10-5. Sara forgot to tell me that she owns a proper fooze ball table (unlike the warped one that we use with a ping pong ball) and she was really good, feigning to shoot with the middle striker and scoring with the actual shot from the striker on the 'wing'. I was gob smacked.
On the weekend wasn't too exciting as Sara was working, and I did my own thing. I got to watch Sara's brother play ball again. It was fun to watch, but so one sided, that by the end of it I was just day dreaming every now and then. Because I left the blog for this week so long... I can't actually think if I have missed anything interesting from the weekend. But if I do remember I'll write it down in a latter blog. But it's not going to be that interesting if I have forgotten it after a week.
Week 3
Well I should have posted this all sooner in parts as it is stretching out to be quite a long blog, even though I haven't done much. Last week was a little different then the week before, as Sara was sick. So she stayed home with me. But because she was sick, we didn't really get to do much other then xmas shop, hang out and look at apartments to move out into, we've seen a couple. Nothing really in our price range so far that has jumped up and out at us. We also have to pick on behalf of Sandra, one of Sara's friends. So we have to be extra picky just to make sure that she'll definitely like it as well.
On the Tuesday night that Sara came home sick, I went to watch another game of bball with Sara's mum. It was the two teams from Århus playing each other. It was going to be interesting game, as most derbies in sports are. I was entertained by the showboating of each side, as well as the close score line (until the last 3-4 mins of the last 1/4 when Nicolai's team just went nuts, and looked awesome).
On sat night I met another one of Sara's friends, Johanna. She was pretty cool. We went and had coffee with them and had a chat about everything before going off to see Sara's old choir (with every person in it being new) perform. we met Lina there as well, as it turned out that both her and Johanna's sister were in it. No insult to the ppl performing, it just wasn't my thing; I'm surprised I didn't fall asleep. Afterwards we finally settled my 3½ week craving for sushi by going to the Japanese place. I the food was small, but it was freshly made, so it made up for it. Sara mentioned that Sandra loves to make sushi. Hopefully I won't have to go back there too often, because it will burn a hole in my pocket if I keep getting craving for sushi.
On Sunday Sara was back at work. So I planned to write this blog and watch some football (soccer) on the net through video streaming. As the game was about to start, I noticed that it was not going to be worth while watching on the net. So I headed into the city. I did not want to miss Man utd vs Liverpool. On the way there I noticed how all the leaves had ice on them, because it was so cold. For a second I thought it had rained, but it turned out only to be frost. I went to the Bridgewater, which I had been shown on a map by Sara. It was almost half time when I got there. The pub was so crowded I dreaded trying to find my way in. I found a way in at half time thanks to all the smokers going outside. So I went and found a nice position and waited for the 2nd half to begin. I feel sorry for poor trio. Liverpool had some nice movement in the midfield, but just didn't do much in the last 3rd. They are going to need to get better to hope to stay in the champion's league and contenders for the title. Sara met me in the pub and we watched the rest of the half and went home for dinner and to lie around the house.
I think I watched the golden compass one day during the week as well, which was not bad. I had a long thought about my demon and what kind of animal it would be. All I could think was Misty was it. We truely are similar in so many ways that it's scary.
This week so far.
Well its Wednesday today and I haven't done much more this week, except shop and read. I am up to book 6 of Harry, and have bought Sara's pressie. Hope she likes it. She almost saw it when her dad walked into the lounge room with it after it was delivered. Luckily I was reading Harry and covered her face in the book and went and hid it. It's now wrapped and safely hidden until xmas. I was also going to meet 2 more of Sara's friends this week and catch up again with Johanna, but things changed last moment. Oh well. It is a hectic time of year.
My Apologies
Sorry If these last 2 weeks are a bit boring. I am not sure what to write and what to leave out. I am hoping with xmas and Nye coming up, as well as Kim visiting that things will be different in the next couple of blogs. Hopefully I will keep you posted a bit more often then this, but I put it off as I couldn't think of much that I have done... other then read (oh and I have watched Heroes and am almost back up to date YAYAY!!)
