Off to Rottnest Island today. And what a perfect day it was! Weatherwise and around the Island.
WE went to Hillarys Boat Harbour, only 20 minutes from the Caravan park, and boarded the 1030am ferry for a sail 40 minutes across. We saw a glimpse of a whale tail! The ferry crossing was very smooth! Apparantly it can be very rough. Off at the other end, we hunted down the bicycle hire place and hired some bikes and a carry trailer for Liam! Yes ! He was King for the day, travelling around in the trailer! It was good as we could put all our bags and things in it too. Got some subway for lunch to take as well so we can stop for a picnic somewhere.
So off we went and did an anti clockwise ride around the island. There were so many bays to view and the color of the water was gorgeous! Especially as the sun was shining. We also saw some quokkas and a mother with her baby! As we were travelling Jack spotted a black snake... we think a red belly black snake! So didn’t go near that! Liam spotted a lizard and made dad turn around and ride up the hill to see it again! Hahahaha
We had our lunch at Parakeet Bay = just a small little bay with the sea lapping the sand. Sun shining, yummy lunch.... it was perfect.
Travelling around the island we ended up doing 20kms! So well done Jack! The lady at the hire place said there were only a few rolling hills.... I reckon she hasn’t ridden around coz there were heaps of hills. The only good side about going up a hill was that you came down once on top! Lololol
We ended the day at the bar overlooking the harbour with a beer! Was a lovely day. Back on the 430pm ferry and had some takeaway pizza... which was the best pizza we’ve had! I think another pizza night will be on the cards.....
Off to bed early after a movie night of Pirates of the Carribean!

Cleaning day today! Stripped beds and washed all the sheets, tidied van, then went to do some grocery shopping. The car also got a clean! Dave took the boys and washed and vacuumed the car.
Got back and finished chores then headed for the huge spa they have at the front of the park. Spent about an hour in here! Was lovely. Had a BBQ at the camp kitchen and had another movie night with apple crumble and custard!
Sunday 5 September Happy Fathers Day!
Fathers Day today! Up early because the ducks and fowls woke us up! Off to Uncle Johns and Margarets today to see the Smith Clan!
Had a lovely gourmet hamburger bbq and caught up with everyone. Liam had his eyes fixed on the tv for 3 hours watching the Nickelodean channel.... lolol thinks he misses tv! Hahahaha He did play a little with Gavin and Lan Chis little girl Cherrie. Jack had fun trying to mess Uncle Johns house! He thought it was funny how fastidious UJ was!

On the 1030 train to Fremantle today for something different. Once at Fremantle had a hard time finding the visitors centre but after 25minutes of walking half of Freo we found it! Decided to have a bit of lunch first – fish and chips of course.... that is what you have to have apparently when you hit Fremantle. Then off to the Shipwreck Museum which is part of the WA Maritime Museum. Was very interesting especially the Dutch influence and shipwrecks around the west coast, including the Batavia! They had uncovered a piece of the bow and some of its cargo and restored it.
Went to the main Maritime museum but as it was already 230pm we decided it would take too long and would get home late. Plus , the submarine tour wouldn’t let Under 6year olds go on so that was a bummer. I took the boys on the free bus around Freo to the foreshore to play on the playground... ( well Liam not Jack! Lolol ) whilst Dave went to the pub and tried a few boutique beers he wanted to suss out. Then back on the train via Perth to our stop. OMG! It was 515pm in Perth – peak hour.... unbelievable... I have not seen it like that in all my travels! Lolol but gee the system works well and wasn’t long before we were on the train squashed in like sardines!Liam, of course, kept everyones attention on board!

A non day really today... our last day in the Perth precinct. Went to the shops to get some last supplies before heading out tomorrow and to the camping store for a new pump tap for the van, and wipers for the car! Boys off to the spa again now ( arvo ) . Then a big tidy and get ready to go back on the road tomorrow.
