Friday 24 September
After a freezing cold night – clear skies were upon us when we woke this morning. Out by 930am we headed north stopping at Tumby and Arno Bays. The latter for a playground fix and walk on the jetty. Overnights at Whyalla – lovely park on the water with a jumping pillow! So Liam in his element and burned off a whole heap of energy! Had a lovely bbq dinner in the camp kitchen and rested with a movie night!
Saturday 25 September - Happy Birthday Nanna Mil!
Up and out by 930 and after a big brekkie, we headed to Adelaide today to visit the rellos! Seemed to take forever to get there! Said in book 3 hours. But took us over 4 coz of all the P stops! Lolol Stopped in at Cowell and bought 10 dozen HUGE oysters unshucked! Cheap cheap – only $ 7 bucks a dozen! We met up with U. Peter and U. Ray etc on the highway just out of Port Augusta. They were heading for a week to Arno Bay!
Arrived at Virgina around 2pm! With lots of smiley faces and hugs waiting for us! Jack and Liam got smothered! Better them than us! Heheheeheh
Had an oyster Kilpatrick dinner! And birthday cake for Nan! Zzzzzzzzzz dead tired!
Sunday 25 September to 03 October
A week spent in Adelaide!,,,,, well north of Adelaide at Virginia at Gary and Jeems new house. HUGE! Just one word for that. Was nice to be able to move around and not bump into each other!hahaha
On arriving about 2pm, we unpacked and settled ( took over! Hehehe ). It was Nanna Millies birthday so an icecream cake and candles!!!
Pretty much the week was spent sorting photos on the laptop, washing ( ! ) and looking for a new place for mum. The boys didn’t come until Monday morning and Jack pretty much picked up where he left last time. Of course they had all grown and are now all taller than me ( lolol )
They kept to themselves in the Testosterone Cave ( media room ) and played xbox! Gary flew in on Wednesday so now it was full house! Had a ‘slide’ night over two nights as there were over 2000 photos! Was good to look back at what we had all done! Some of it seemed like yesterday!
Monday was goodbye day, leaving around 930am with 700km drive ahead to Wilcannia.
Monday 4 October
After the big drive we arrived at A. Heathers and Anthonys in Wilcannia about 7pm ( NSW time ) and had a lovely bbq overlooking the Darling River. The house was a lovely old building built in the late 1800s and most of it in original condition. The old woolstore was theirs too and equally as interesting. A lot of history thats for sure! Jack and Liam had a bit of fun with the 3 dogs!
Tuesday 5 October
Up late this morning after a late night to bed. Jack went with Anthony to the ‘ weather station’ to report on Wilcannias weather which he logs online everyday. A man of all trades! Lolol
Goodbyes done around 1030 we headed for another big driving day to Dubbo 550 kms away!
Arrived in Dubbo around 530pm only to find that most of the van parks and motels were fully booked so scored a nice little park just out of town. Had tea, movie then bed! So Stuffed!
Wednesday 6 October
Up and out and at the entrance gates to Dubbo Zoo at 930am. WAS PACKED! Lined up for about ½ hour to get and once we did we parked the van in the carpark and started our circle of the zoo.
Where to begin..... Lemurs, monkeys, giraffes, elephants.... all the zooey animals. Liam thought it was fabulous of course. He would say when we are looking at the giraffes.... ‘ now lets go to the zebras ‘ and when we get there ‘ lets go see the monkeys’ and so on and so on. We got really close to the giraffes as they were just being fed and listened in on a talk for the Hippos! I think Liam liked these the best! The zebras were pretty close up to the fence so got a good look at them too.
We had a barbeque lunch at the picnic spot and continued to see the gibbons. Liam stuck his fingers in his ears for this one. They were so loud and put on a show for everyone! It was like looking at a married couple having a barney with the woman always coming back for her last say! ( go girls! Lolol)
Got up close and personal to the Galapagos tortoise too.... then it was time to hook up and travel towards home..... We left the zoo around 2pm and pushed on as far as we could and stayed in Gunnedah. Had a lovely meal at the Courthouse Hotel.... $ 12 Scnitzel night! And they were huge , we couldn’t eat it all!lolol
