Hi guys and hello from Broome.
What a lovely town which is modern with no high rises and no traffic lights just roundabouts.
Cable beach is an amazing curved very long beach with white sands that get washed with the clean aqua green water of the Indian Ocean which the sun sets in and really creates a postcard picture. It's nice to be on the west coast by the sea as we have really missed those cooling sea breezes.Hey it's hard to believe that from travelling north from Coober Peddy we have now had over a month of clear blue skies with the average day temp of 30 deg and a night time low of 18, every day and it's winter !!!
If this isn't paradise I don't know what is so we have fingers crossed it continues although heading south from now on has to gradually change things.
Stayed in a motor camp last night with us again getting the last spot but had to move to what they call a overflow camp today. Its just so busy here in the peak season at present. Some idiot booked our camper in for a much need service
( travelled over 11,000 so far ! ) and the only time available for a week was at 7am this morning. What a shock to the system it was getting up at 6 and walking over to the showers in a nippy 18 deg. Brrrrrrr. But the thought of you guys back home in about 1.8 deg made it a bit more bearable. After a 3km walk into town after dropping off the van we decided that we would treat ourselves to a nice breakfast and what a treat it was. I have never before left anything on my plate for brunch until now but I just could not eat all the huge pile of smoked salmon on my eggs Benedict and it's only going to be a very small bbq for dinner tonight too! Did lots of walking around the shops and viewed lots of nice pearls for which this town is known for and saw the one which had been on TV in NZ on a programme worth about $100.000.00
We went on a walk along the jetty at the port today and watched a lucky fisherman land a very large Queenfish. Stephanie had sweaty hands and feet from walking on the high walkway out over the sea and not looking down.
Going on a town and around bus tour tomorrow and a museum and the old Japanese & Chinese cemeteries from the pearling days and a walk along Cable Beach.
Talk soon.
