We arrived in Christchurch and it was definitely not what we had expected! The earthquake had destroyed most of the city and many of the houses were partly destroyed or abandoned which was very sad to see (this purple house was like the leaning tower of piza). We had a 20 minute trek to our hostel from the bus stop and it was very spooky, there was hardly anyone around and everyone was miserable!
The next morning we were up at 7:30 to catch a bus to Queenstown which we were very excited about! Although it was a very long 8 hour bus journey on winding roads, however the views were stunning and there was snow on the mountains (they were beyond imaginable!)
