So today's ride was fairly short, the people who didn't do the extra loop ended up at the hotel around 1pm. The regular loop was 29 miles & the extra loop was 41 miles. I was super thankful for the short day today... Patrick did the extra loop, so he got in a little later than us. We had a bit of a climb in the morning, but the downhill was awesome towards the end of the day! The town of Orvieto was really cool, a bunch of shopping and definitely the best gelato we had! There also was a Duomo in the piazza that you could see from our hotel. This was BY FAR my favorite church... The amount of frescos & scupltures in this cathedral was amazing! Apparently they had just finished restoring the face of the Duomo, which made it all the more awe inspiring. (I got a ton of pictures of it, but unfortunately we couldn't take pics inside.) Then we got to go to a private restaurant and make our own pasta for dinner. We also got to tour the private family caves under the restaurant. (There are something like 1200 caves under the town of Orvieto, were people would dig far enough down to have wells.) This particular cave was one of the largest in the area. The chef cooked the pasta that we made, along with a bunch of other stuff and we had a great meal... This was one of my favorite days of the trip! Arrivederci!
