Took ourselves off to the coast after a farewell to Kevin and Claire, and one too many free caiphirinas. We took our first of many buses down the coast a few hours to a little town of minimal appeal and attraction. We paid a very small fee and took the local rusty ferry across the bay to the beautiful ilha grande. The ferry was piled high with people, shopping and the odd electrical good! We were more than pleasantly surprised to arrive at the island with out having sank! On arriving we were greeted by a little slice of paradise that would be more suited in the Caribbean with its pristine beaches, lush jungle and snakes falling out of trees!
Our hostel had a beautiful view over the bay and had nice breakfasts that we were able to surreptitiously steal lunches from! Our room how ever was not such a luxury. From the legions of Mosquitos in every courner of the room to the drain that backed up and the lampshade(!?!) that smelt like someone had abused it we didn't massively enjoy the hostel. What made up for to it was the sheer beauty of the island it's self.
We had a great few days enjoying the local cuisine sat right on the beach front drinking cocktails! Did some amazing hikes and were rewarded with fabulous views of the 200km island and its bluer than blue waters and skies. We spent hours hiking to secluded little beaches and relaxed and washed off the sweat in the warm waters.
Sad to say goodbye but at least it was raining when we left so easier to go!
