Hello there, wherever in the world you might be!
As you may already have noticed from the little picture up in the corner, I have safely reached Hawaii. In fact, I arrived in paradise almost two weeks ago.
Things have been pretty hectic. Up until now, most of my time I have spent trying to find everything I need, such as pots, pans, towels, detergent, toilet paper, hangers, etc. A lot of my time has also been spent on the internet, trying to locate the nearest stores, and how to get there and back. It would probably not have been as hard, if I was at least a little familiar with the area and with how things work, as opposed to having no idea what I am doing... :P Luckily, I have survived so far, and gotteng everything done. At least as far as I know. Though I gotta say, even though it is a lot of work, and very frustrating, the feeling afterwards, is pretty damn good! Anyhow, this was basically one half of my first week.
The other half of my first week, I spent at the school orientation and getting paperwork done, e.g. tuberculousis clearance and student ID. Except for getting to know other people at the school, the student orientation was pretty boring. So there isn't much to tell. We had pretty long days, getting a ton of info. They told us abut different upcoming events and other more or less useful information (the usefullness of the information depended on if you were a freshman, transfer student, or and exchange student). Except for the free food, that was pretty much it.
Naturally I had to squeese in some beach time in to my schedule, even though it was pretty packed.
So my first dip in the Pacific was a nice, short, night dip with some friends.
Later I was able to go to the beach for a longer period of time, during the day. And naturally, I did the one thing I had promised myself not to do. Burn myself. So for two days my back was really red and sore. Even turning in my sleep was kind of painful. And when it finally started to feel normal, my skin just had to start peeling. In other words, it is going to be another week before I will hopefully look normal again... Sigh.
