Istanbul to Beypazari(Turkey)
Incredibly long day today we didn't get back to the hotel until dusk unfortunately it was my fault I managed to get the three of us lost. In my defence the route notes were pretty rubbish but the real problem was we took the wrong turning in a place called Bolu and then we hit several miles of twisties which I was having great fun on, it wasn't until they ended that I looked around and Colin was there indicating we were on the wrong road. Still it fulfilled my goal - don't get to the hotel until it's too dark to ride. The hotel is duff anyway - one of those "character hotels" which was built in Ottoman time 200 years ago - no shower or toilet. What people don't seem to realise is the reason we don't build houses in the same way today as we built them 200 years ago is cos the old way was rubbish, we should knock all the old ones down and put up new ones. My room was right over what must be the main road through the village so it vibrated anytime a truck went by a bit like sleeping between railway tracks. To be fair I was so knackered after the ride that I slept through till 5AM anyway. Town was great though, real old silk road - definitely worth a visit. The guys grabbed a meal and reckoned it was pretty good - all went well except for asking for beer in a Muslim restaurant.
