A day in Lhasa (Tibet)
A day in Lhasa took a wander round the palace today - amazing stuff obviously the main location off the Dalai Lama and hence the seat of government for the last thousand years or so. All the main Lamas are buried there in tombs covered in gold several thousand kilos each - one of the boys estimated it in tens of mill…
Welcome to Doug's motorcycle trip to China.
The rough idea is to ride a motorcycle from the Ace Cafe in London England to Beijing in China via Belgium, Germany, Croatia, Turkey and the Stans. For the bike geeks among you the bike is a BMW F800GS rigged with Touratech bits and a few electronic mods of my own. Luckily, for me, the bike is a loaner from Globebusters.com who, given my heavily tarnished record on dirt, have been unwise enough to let me borrow one.

Okay, so much for the intro, I hope you enjoy the ride.

I can say I've been there. When we got there we thought it was a joke by our guide. Ranks close to the worse day of my life too, and those I was travelling with. We stayed at the deluxe accommodation as we had a tin shack and there was well water available and a scruffy dog who we could only pet with our feet. I can't believe this place is actually a town of sorts on a map.

It seems like "yesterday" when we were all eeking out our gas in the Turkmen desert. My clock had 263 miles on it when I ran out so you had bags left!! Having broken my ankle before Christmas I can only say that Anne must be made out of stern stuff to carry on. Careful on your way through Kazakhstan - we dont want any more cracked tibias!
All the best

The count: "Damn! these intrepid international adventurers... they need to take photos and videos instead of keeping both hands on the handle... What he didn't factor in though is that if he falls off I might break my teeth and won't get my Chinese at the end of the trip, AMATEUR! Guess I'll have to make do with the taste of Turks as a speciality "

Good blog Doug
Keep on it won't you.
Sounds like you need a bit more action though.
Have you tried buying Kev a bottle of Whiskey?

Dear Count
A pity you didnt get to visit your ancestral resting palce on this trip! Good to see you off from the Ace. We are all insanely jealous - even more so that you had an "easy" ride into Istanbul. Watch out for the buses on the way out!
Regards
The GHOB
PS make sure Doug keeps the Mars bars and cigar pannier topped up!
