Qala-i-Khumb to Khorog
Take about a trip of extremes today was a brilliant day, sunny, warm and dry. We ran down the M41 literally a stone's throw from Afghanistan we could see the Afghans on the other side walking down a path that was only just wide enough for a donkey and about 100 feet up a slope above the river separating the two countries, it looked unbelievably dangerous from our side just as we'd decided that they'd come to the end of the path they suddenly, leading the donkey, took off vertically up the slope, take a look at the pictures you won't believe it. I guess they're used to danger around here because most of it is still mined and half way down we ran across a Russian armoured personnel carrier that clearly didn't make it. I picked up a few spent rounds while we were photographing the site so they'd certainly been a significant battle here. However it didn't detract from the fantastic scenery and ride we arrived in Khorog at the Deli Darbor which is a famous Indian curry house fantastic food and several large beers - we needed it after the last few days.
