Dingri (China) to Lhasa (China)
Down off the highest area of the plateau today from around 4,600 metres to 3,600 all tarmac - lovely. I road with Kevin most of the day, you can rely on him to make the right decision so when you follow him it makes for an easy ride. The traffic was heavy and aggressive on the way into Lhasa but not really a problem after the M25. We got the first view of the famous palace as we came through the main square - impressive. There's a significant Chinese army presence here, I guess not surprising given the troubles last year, they're very clever in how they portray themselves no obvious weaponry but they leave no one in doubt as to who's in charge. The only minor drama is we seem to have lost Charles - methinks he'll arrive.
