Wild Camp to Darvaza
Longish hot ride over really bumpy roads quite fun really, except for Lee who had a mini collapse at one of the petrol stops on the way - usual culprit this bug medic checked him out and let him ride on, he looked really rough apparently ashen was word the word used. I had some plonker of a minibus driver wanted to race me bloody idiot over these roads he stood no chance I was only running at 60% apparently he nearly turned the vehicle over twice before he eventually gave up. Stopped at the ruins of Gorun apparently one of the major stops on the Silk Route until one of the Khans decided he wasn't keen apparently the locals kept rebuilding the place each time it was destroyed until eventually Timogen covered the whole place with salted earth, it certainly seemed to work cos there's not much growing there even today. The minaret was apparently the tallest one in the world in the middle ages and is still the third tallest today.
