Gyeongju Jeonju
Off we go inland, we decide to go thru/round Daegu City, the first large Korean city we meet. Wow the place is huge and incredibly busy we're in solid traffic for an hour and a half, and this place is one of the smaller cities, Seoul must be something else. Half way thru the whole place stops, turns out an ex president has just died, finally we get clear and then the whole pace changes we're out in the country on smooth twisty tarmac, fantastic. We stop by a lake in the hills for a drink and an ice cream from a small roadside shop the really friendly owner, as all the Koreans have been, sits us down and makes sure we're comfy. Lake looks as though it's full of fish, the people make this place we've been received everywhere with a smile and an open face such a change after some of the places we've been. The road continues in the same vein all the way thru Muju and into JeonJu. Pretty standard hotel but this one's in the centre, after checking in we take a wander thru town and find a native Korean restaurant, as usual squeekie clean, we don't know what we're ordering but make some arbitary choices luckily a Korean lady warns us that we've ordered one main dish between three of us and one side dish, she helps us sort it out and we have a great meal. Wandering some more we find a modern coffee house and settle down for coffee and cake, I like this place its lively and has enough western culture to be comfortable but enough eastern culture to be challenging and interesting.
