(19 November)
We had hoped we would wake up feeling better today but unfortunately not! Wasn't quite as bad as the day before...we could just about drag ourselves to a restaurant to force down some food. I had my boat to Phuket at 2 and Kristin was leaving for Krabi at 3. We chilled out on the wifi in the really nice restaurant where we had Anna's last meal, and I managed to eat half a plate of mash and gravy which I was pretty proud of haha. Feeling so I'll though! We called in to see Scott to say bye on the way back to our hostel but he was passed out so we just let him sleep. We had transfers to the pier booked included in our tickets, which on phi phi (where there are no roads!) meant the bag got pushed in one of the big wheelbarrow type things they have...and I jumped in with it cos I was feeling so dodgy haha. I got on the boat and pretty much passed out for the whole journey, then got off half asleep and waited for a taxi driver going to Patong to find me. Worked out pretty well, ended up in one of the minivans and he even carried my rucksack to it for me! I must have looked pretty pathetic haha.
Arrived at the hostel and had a shower to try and feel a bit more human, then chatted to two Glaswegian cousins in my dorm. They were lovely, and just what I needed because I was feeling so disheartened with travelling from feeling so ill, was really fed up - but they were just starting travelling and when I started telling them what I'd been up to I remembered how awesome it had been!
I went for a wee walk around town, there was a cool food Market but thought I should get something more normal for my stomach, ended up having a pie and mash from an Irish pub but it wasn't great and I couldn't eat much!
Phuket is crazy, so commercial it's unreal, was amazed to see the huge shopping centres etc. Everything was expensive compared to the rest of Thailand and it seemed pretty seedy - worse than bangkok! I wasn't a massive fan. I stayed in Patong though and I've heard that further down the coast at Kata beach it's a lot nicer!
I went back to the hostel and the Glaswegians were drinking there wrote going out, with a girl from Australia who was on her last few days travelling. They invited me out but I was still feeling pretty rough and shattered, so I sat with them till they went out then just headed straight to bed!
