(15 November)
This morning Anna woke me pretty early to buy tickets for a boat tour of the islands. I had slept ok but Anna and Oli had had no sleep because apparently it was really noisy, so they talked about leaving and then decided to give it another night...only to come back about 10 minutes before we had to leave for the tour and say they had actually decided to move across the road! It was too late for me to pack up my bag and stuff and I had slept ok so I just stayed where I was - Kristin and Silvio were staying too...although Silvio had stayed in Hollie's dorm the night before! Oh yeah, when we went to get them earlier on to book the tour, Silvio had gotten loads of grief from the owner of the hostel because he stayed the night there and didn't pay! Haha. It also turned out that Hollie couldn't get her money or camera, because it was locked in the locker she had shared with Scott, and he'd been pretty unimpressed when she brought another guy back to the bed beside him and changed the combination on the lock! Hahaha, it was pretty hilarious.
We went to the beach at about 11 to get on the boat for our tour, which was a bit iffy as I wasn't feeling the best after the night before lol. It was a wee very basic boat, and there was about 12 of us maybe? Silvio, a German guy, Hollie, Anna, Oli, Dan (an English guy from flower bungalows), a girl called Emily who i had seen a few times as she was on the tour ahead of us aroud Cambodia etc, a Canadian couple, a French couple, and an old guy...not sure where he was from! So 13 including me! First we went to monkey island, we basically just pulled up in the boat and saw some monkeys on the shore, they were pretty cool, catching bits of food that the boat drivers sent and stuff. Some people got off the boat to paddle a little closer to them but we didn't actually get out and go on the island. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous the whole day, the colour of the water was just amazing there! We went to a cove for some snorkelling, which was really cool to see the fish but I was absolutely terrified...I didn't realise I was quite as scared as I was but it took a lot for me to work up to getting in the water, and even then I spent a good 10 minutes pretending there was no fish to stop me freaking out! After a while I managed to put my head under and have a bit of a look, not actually snorkelling though. It was really cool but I was just too freaked out and had to get back on the boat - I was still shaking for about 15 minutes! Maybe diving isn't for me then...
We had our "included lunch" which was a small muffin and some dodgy looking rice...the fish got most of mine!...on the way to Maya Beach, which is where the film "The Beach" was filmed! It wasn't quite what I expected, it was definitely gorgeous but a bit crowded...obviously though everyone does the same thing when they go to Phi Phi! It was cool though, we had a look about then chilled on the beach for a bit, and took some photos on a massive rock at one end of the beach - hopefully they'll appear on Facebook at some point!
From there we went for ages to another place to snorkel, but by that stage it was pretty cold and getting dark so only a few people went in! Old guy was loving it though, he wouldn't come back for ages and nearly put us in danger of missing the sunset!
Our last stop was Bamboo Island which was absolutely gorgeous! Like a proper deserted island, completely empty beautiful beach! When we went inland a bit there were a few hits and tents where you could stay, and we talked about coming back to stay for a night or two because it was really really cool! Finally we headed back to the boat and went back to shore, and saw the sunset on the way, which was really pretty!
By the time we got back we were pretty shattered and hungry! Went back and had showers, then went for food. Oli's friend Sophie had arrived so they went for dinner to a place called Papaya which is meant to be amazing! When we went it was queued out the door though, so Anna, Hollie, Dan, Silvio and I went back to the place from the night before. We had some entertainment when we realised there was a big TV in the restaurant that was showing a live feed of the pier, and the boys went to find the camera on the beer run and waved at us and stuff...so stupid but very entertaining haha!
We were supposed to meet a few people in the Irish bar that night, so wet there after dinner. Hollie got talking to some Irish guys and it turned out I had met them at the full moon party which was crazy! I had intended to stay out, but after walking Anna home cos she was tired I realised I was shattered and just went to bed!
Unfortunately tonight I realised what the others had meant, I barely slept at all! Everyone was so noisy literally all night it was unreal! And I had a massive bite/rash thing on the back of both my legs which was stupidly itchy, at one point I had to get up and just stand under a cold shower to try and stop the itching, it was pretty awful. Not a fun night!
