Ok, so day 2 in xi'an!
We got up early (left at 8 I think) to go see the terracotta warriors! It was awesome! I don't know what I expected really, I hadn't looked into it much, but it was really cool. There's a few pits at the site, and the main attraction is this army of terracotta warriors which were found buried near an emperors tomb from over 2000 years ago! There is around 6000 of them I think but only about 1000 have actually been uncovered so far. They really were amazing to see.when they were made they were all painted in different colours but they fade as soon as they are taken from the ground, so they are trying to preserve the new ones they take up. There had been no record of them at all until they were found which is apparently really weird for Chinese as they document everything really well. Each warrior seems to have been based on a real person as well, as they are all different. I was so impressed by them, it really was just awesome! Never mind that they had been made in the first place, but that they could be taken out if the ground and restored... Just wow. There was more smaller pits with different groups of warriors found in them. There was also a gift shop with obscenely expensive models of the warriors, and the guy who found the warriors (a local farmer who had been digging a well in the 70s) sits every day to sign autographs! Mental. But the Whole thing was definitely a must see! On the way back a lot of us stopped at subway for a half normal sandwich haha, I'm craving sandwiches like nobody's business!
On the way back on the bus jenny taught us a little bit about Chinese which was fun, but I'm still useless haha! We were back around 4 and had a but of a break until dinner, so I went and sorted out my bank situation. That night we had dinner a lot more like what we had had the first few nights, although Jenny was still trying to introduce crazy things every so often...we got a plate with things like chicken wings, feet, and head...it was gross. Seriously gross! But the rest of the food was awesome.
Afterwards we went to see the musical fountain which is near the university (Jenny went to uni here!). That was so good! One of my highlights. It was absolutely beautiful, and this huge fountain would have been cool on it's own. But it does these music shows for 20 minutes, basically a mix of classical western and Chinese music and thd fountains move and are lit up on time to it...it was CLASS! Got a few videos but not sure if they'll do it justice! After that we just went to bed I think.
